Screws in the jaw

#1 Post by Rachel B »

Hi,

When I went for my consultation last week, my ortho said that I might need a screw in my jaw to help pull my teeth into alignment as an anchor. He said it was because my back teeth may not be strong enough to pull my front teeth round on and they may end up moving instead.
Does anyone else have this? What's it like?
Thanks,

Rachel x

I've asked about this too. They're called TADs. If you do a search of the forum you should be able to find several posts with some good info. I am set to get them on Nov 11th.

  • Concerns: primary: upper overjet (malocclusion), secondary: lower crowding

I'll have TADS too in a few months. They will use them as an anchor on both sides to pull my lower back molors forward to fill a gap.

I'm not looking forward to it but I'm trying not to dwell on it.
