Unexpectedly Debraced!!!!!!

#1 Post by mottsrods »

Well, My time in braces came to an end today very unexpectedly. I went in for an adjustment and DM asked if I would like my braces off early. He talked briefly that now I had gotten my molars where they needed to be and all the gaps mostly closed....... that he wanted to use me as a guinee pig. He asked me if I would be willing to finish with Invisalign. I would wear my trays for 4 weeks each, and for 13 more months. And at any point I felt it wasn't working, I could go back into full braces. Also, at then end, if I was not happy, or he wasn't happy with it, I could go back into full braces to correct anything needed. He wanted to use me as a course fo study to see how the progression whent from the stage I am in now. It was also agreed that for the following 5 years after completing my treatment, I would go in every 3 months for a check up and in that time, anything that needed to be done would be at no charge, including having to be re-braced. I just had to agree to keep up with the trays, and to wear my retainers at the end of treatment.

So I agreed, and signed my name on the dotted line and now i'm starting into the trays. the first is just a plain retainer, as the molds will be sent off to have all of them made. They'll be back in 2 to 3 weeks. And man does this feel freakin' weird. But i'm happy.

My wife is jealous, and called to ask if she could be included too! He said no as she had a severe crossbite that needed way more attention. She loves my new smile though. She is said she was happy with it just like it is, but at least it would be taken care of for the next 6 to 7 years. I also need to mention that they will also do my cleaning too!!!! twice a year.....included......

Gosh I'm happy......

Thanks everyone, for all the support I've gotten. I'll still be on here some, and will update when I can. I also have to say i'm very sorry for not posting more. My business has really been keeping me going about 120 MPH.

the trays

I will say this about the Invisalign trays....... they make my teeth hurt worse than having the braces on. The roots hurt, and it never got this bad with braces at all, it was the sores in my mouth and cheeks. And also the dreaded lisp. It is severe. I guess time will tell......

I want the braces back on............. the roots of my teeth hurt so bad. I called DM to see what he thought, and he said I was probably clenching and grinding again. So, He asked me to come in on Tuesday to see what next action will be taken. A one piece retainer..... like a bionator was mentioned.

The good thing is.... even though I'm clenching and grinding, My TMJ hasn't flared up. My jaws don't ache at all. Or if they are, I am not noticing because the roots of all my teeth are hurting so bad.

I'll update on Tuesday...

I just got my braces off after being in them for 7 months... my teeth soo badly too. Its like how you describe it, it's as if the roots hurt. It seems like every nerve of every tooth is throbbing. When I had the braces on, I never felt this sort of pain. I think it has something to do with taking off the braces before the roots are settled...or something like that.
