I have finally set a surgery date, Nov. 11. I have an underbite and my lower jaw will be setback and will be wired shut 4 weeks. I am not looking forward to this at all. This will be an outpatient procedure. I just got word that insurance will cover after all. YEAH!!
After an insurance denial and denied appeal, an exception has been made to cover the procedure. It is a self funded plan, so the plan administrator can make the exception. This is after I negotiated with my OS and the surgery facility since insurance originally denied. I never would have thought about negotiating if it were not for this site.
After getting the price info for a hospital from another user, I asked my surgeon if they could offer a similar price. Even though insurance is now paying, the price reduction remains.
Braces since 11/10/2006.
Debated surgery most of 2007 and fought with insurance most of 2008 until got it covered.

wisdom teeth removed under GA nov07 * Braced 8/2/08 * 2 premolars removed Apr08 * Adjustment 4 rebonding, 4 molar bands & new wire 4/7/08 * 31Jul wire change * 28 Aug last wire fitted and lower powerchain put on. 29th May moulds and x rays. 31st July Surgery date
