I went with the silver chains. It makes me wonder why I went for ceramic in the first place.

PuppySmiles, I have seen you post for a while. Are you just now getting braced? Your posts are so friendly and helpful- Welcome to the braced club! :D

I wish I had clear braces. I'm actually a little tired of standing out.
Will you let us know how 'pearl' works for you? I was concerned they might stain. 'Course, being the coffee drinker that I am, most of the light colors stain on me.

Ah, thanks, beachbum! Yes, I'm just now getting braced. Discovered the message board early on in my research phase, and started posting when I found out what a great resource it is. You guys have seen me through the extensive vetting-process for orthodontists, through surgeon consults and deciding about surgery, and now we've arrived at the action of the story - I'm excited to finally be braced!

I will let you know about the Pearl ligs. So far, so good, and I've had a couple of hot teas. (Earl Grey is practically a requirement of my job.) But we've got until December before my next lig change, so we'll see!

Just had my first adjustment and my lowers fitted. I chose alternate pink and purple on my metal lowers:

I also thought it would be useful to post pictures of how my silver ligs stood up to two months of avoiding the obviously staining foods, but drinking daily cups of tea:

I was told yes, but only in the beginning because as your treatment progresses you get a stronger wire...and you can't have ligs or something like that

Beachbum, you couldn't have been more right. I'm ten days in, and. . . well, I'll let you judge for yourself with a comparison.

And this is Being Good! I don't eat curry, and I drink my daily cup of coffee or tea with a straw. To hazard a guess, I did have tomato soup more than once. Or it might be some chocolate that's to blame.

And we are NOT giving up our chocolate.
