Invisalign -just started (pic)

Hi everyone. I am new to the board, though I have been reading it for a few months now. It was actually hearing people's stories on this board that convinced me to finally take the plunge!

I had braces as a kid (for two years, from age 10-12) but I was bad about wearing my retainer, and my back wire fell off eventually and I didn't replace it. Then my wisdom teeth came in, and all my teeth crowded again. I was pretty upset because I had been through a lot to get my teeth straight the first time, including over a dozen teeth pulled over the years!!

So after several years of being very anxious about my crooked teeth, and always being jealous of those with a great smile, I finally decided to do something about it. I got engaged awhile ago, which is a big reason why I chose to do this now. I always said I wouldn't get married with my teeth the way they are, and once my boyfriend proposed, I forced myself to finally go to the dentist!

Anyways, I decided to go with invisalign. I have 14 uppers and 14 lowers, so hopefully I will be done in about 7 months. I have had them for 4 days now, and am loving them so far! They are a bit sore at time, but not too bad overall.

Seven months should fly by.
The Invisalign hardly show at all.
Congrats on the engagement, as well. What an exciting time for you.

Well, two weeks have gone by, and so far so good! I don't see any movement really, but I can tell there is a bit more space between my teeth when I floss.

I can't wait to see some movement! Woot woot!

Congrats for taking the plunge into our land. I am a traditional metal mouth (quite dissappointed when I found out I was not a canadite for Invisilign

. Oh well, I am having fun with the different color ligs! Gotta make this fun!

Its always nice when you notice movement, even the slightest bit, getting floss into an area where it once wouldnt go, or in my case, having to tug on the floss to get it into an area where there was once a space!!! Its great

Your Invisalign look great! I also wasn't a candidate for them, as I need orthognathic surgery next year sometime and need the brackets for wiring purposes, you're luckly! Congrats on the engagement, your smile will be beautiful by the time you walk down the aisle!

Wobblydeb-I looked at your story before I decided to take a plunge, and seeing your experience was part of what encouraged me to get started! So thank you!

My only (slight) concern now is my length of time in trays...i have 14 for the top and for the bottom. But that doesn't seem like enough, particularly as I look at cases which seem less serious than mine with more trays?

I am guessing that maybe it has something to do with the fact that this is my second time around, so there aren't any bite issues, etc. to correct. I suppose I will just trust invisalign/my ortho and hope for the best.

You're welcome

If your bite is fine, then your case is possibly less complex than you imagine, and 14 trays will do the job fine

I was starting to notice movement by about tray 3, and have a total of 17 for my lowers which are just a little more crowded than yours. Its amazing how the space opens up for those lower incisors that are pushed forward!

Congrats on your Invisalign! Nice to see another one of us around here. You'll notice real change soon enough. One day it doesn't look much different and then the next aligner BAM! drastic.

Eh, I wouldn't worry too much. Sometimes you see people with SERIOUS movement with so few trays and some people who have like 28 aligners and it's like "really? for that?"
Who knows.
And I wouldn't worry anyway, as you don't have Invisalign express you can always get the refinements if you aren't happy(well, assuming you are in North America).
