talking normally after bsso/genioplasty
Im having my lower jaw and chin moved forward. I'm wondering when i will be able to speak normally. this is important because i work in customer service and am on the phone all day
Hey EARL,
Its not that you won't be able to speak somewhat normally, but it just aches after about 10 minutes of constant talking. I had so many visitors at the beginning of my recovery and i wanted to talk, i just couldn't for all of it. One thing i did do before surgery was to practice talking with my jaws held together. This sounds stupid i know, but i was in hospital at the same time as a girl with jaw surgery and she could only make noises whilst i was jabbering on! It really seemed worth it...i think she just assumed she couldn't talk and didn't really try. Anyhoo, thats my two cents!! I hope it helps

hey there. i had the same thing done as you and i was able to talk right after surgery! Although if i spoke non stop for about 5 - 10 minutes i would get exhausted!
I am now 2 weeks post op, and am planning to return to work next week so i suggest 3 - 4 weeks! The most important thing is to see how you feel, everyone recovers differently.
