Mine will be in either May or June or I'll have to start the pre certification process over again. I'd like to be May but my ortho keeps saying June. I have an appointment tomorrow so we'll discuss date once again.

mike
I wore braces (this time) for 1294 days or 3 years, 6 months and 17 days.
But who's counting?

May 15th is the big day for me. So I guess I'll have had two weeks of post-operation bliss before June starts...

Surgery in June

#8 Post by Lacrosse Mom »

I just saw your post. I just got pre-authorization for my Lefort 1 and SARPE in June. I am planning on having my surgery the second or third week in June. I will meet with the surgeon soon to discuss specifics. .

I have been very apprehensive about the surgery until this week. I was very worried that my insurance would not cover the surgery. I was relieved when I got the call. I have been reading the posts on this website and feel better about the surgery.

Wishing you the best!

:D

woot woot to that! finally another person who is having surgery in June! Mine will be June 2nd as you can see from my signature. I am getting a lefort 1 with a mandable advancement. I'm from Canada. yes we will definetly have to keep in touch and share our similar experiences that is for sure. Is this your first surgery ever in your life? just curious as this will be my first ever major surgery so its all a little nerve racking but I know its needs to get done and I know I'll be a lot happier once it gets done and I see the results!!

Thank you!! :D I am so fortunate that insurance will pay. I am also telling myself it has to get done and to think positive thoughts. Yes, this is my first surgery, so its a little scary. I am anxious to get the date so I can plan ahead.

Do you know what to bring to the hospital? What we can eat? I look forward to your suggestions.

I would like to post my surgery updates on the board. Does anyone know how to post pictures?

I am also fortunate to get insurance to cover my surgery costs and braces cost (50 percent for braces, 100 percent for surgery). It is definetly a relief knowing that the insurance is going to cover the costs. Definetly takes one stress off my mind about the surgery.

I to am doing that exact same thing. Constantly telling myself that this surgery needs to be done and just saying to myself how happy I willl be afterwards when I'm all healed up. Plus I'm also fortunate to have some amazing friends and family to support me through this journey. As well, we are all fortunate to have this message board full of wonderful supportive people. that have gone through similar experiences as us, so it helsp to be able to relate to other people experiences.

In terms of eating, I think it would really depend what time of surgery and how you will be banded up afterwards. Personally for me, I will be wired shut for 6 weeks so I'll be on a liquid puree food diet for those weeks and will then have to slowly work up to steak again once the wires are taken off. There is a post in this section (Orthognathic surgery) right at the top, one of the first 2 posts that has a hole bunch of different recipes so you may want to take a look through those to get some ideas. I have found and wrote down quite a few of the recipes. If you can figure out how you will be banded afterwards that would help you to decide which recipes would work for you.

In terms of bringing stuff to the hospital, at the same spot as I mentioned above, there a hole huge posting of items that other users have brought with them to the hospital with them. So tht a good start to find some ideas for what you should bring. I have started to look through those 2 areas already and I am in the process of making a list of things that I will be bringing with me. Do you know how long you have to stay in the hospital after your surgery???

Hope this has helped you out somewhat and keep in touch!!!

June 3rd at noon

Hey there fellow Juners---

I'm going under the knife on June 3rd (the day after yours, Blind) for an upper and lower jaw surgery. Hopefully, everything will fall into place, most of my worries right now are focused on fighting with my insurance company that wants to pay like two dollars towards the whole procedure (even though it has been approved). I can't believe your surgery is paid at 100% in Canada, Blind, that rocks!

Glad to find this board---

Cheers,
Nora
