Wow Tommm - loads of change!!!
Your lowers are looking awesome and the uppers have moved quite a bit too. Sorry you need extractions but it'll all be worth it.
I have my first adjustment on Friday so I'll take your advice and take some painkillers before I go!!

The improvement in your teeth is AMAZING! Yay! I will also take your advice and take some painkillers before I go on Monday......

Sorry to hear about the wisdom tooth extractions.......all I would say is it's better to get those babies taken out now or else they could give you grief further down the line. I'm sure it won't be too bad ;-)

Keep taking those pics!

Thanks for the kind words Brika and Dreams. My self confidence has been slipping a little bit the last few days and it's nice to come here to such a supportive group of people on similar journeys. I'm back on the positive track now. Let's all keep smiling! :)

Hi Tom, I loved your description of your first adjustment! Glad to see you have a good sense of humor. That goes a long way toward making these experiences positive.

I've had problems with painful wire changes when the tech closes (or opens) the doors on my Damons. It hurts when they just push on my teeth as hard as they think they need to to get the door to move. I have asked them to support the tooth from behind with their fingers when they're pushing on them, and that helps a LOT! They can absorb some of the force with their fingers instead of letting it transfer to your already sensitive roots and bone.

Good luck, and I look forward to future updates!

2 month braceversary!

Oddly I'm not as excited as the exclamation mark implies, but the last two months have passed by like a blur. I don't notice too much progress since the first adjustment but I'm waiting faithfully for the magic wires to do their thing. Overall my lowers are looking pretty good. My uppers seem like they need to get worse before they can get any better though. We shall see what happens :)

In other news, I consulted a few dentists about my wisdom teeth and they said that one of them is resting right on a nerve so it would be pretty risky to remove. I'm definitely not going to get that one pulled now and I'm considering not getting any of them pulled. Hopefully my ortho will be able to work around that. All I want is for my teeth to be straight and my mouth to close. I don't care if they're not "perfect". My next adjustment is on April 20 so I'll let you know what she says.

Keep smiling everyone! :)

wow! I can see lots of improvement on the lowers! As well as that one tooth is really starting to come down in line with the others on the uppers. Sorry for the non-technical terms there. haha

I don't blame you about the wisdom teeth. Hopefully they can work around them. I am hoping my ortho can work around the teeth I have and not have to do more extractions. Extractions make me want to cry! I am going to be toothless!

Anyway, congrats on the progress, things are looking GREAT! :D

In other news, I consulted a few dentists about my wisdom teeth and they said that one of them is resting right on a nerve so it would be pretty risky to remove. I'm definitely not going to get that one pulled now and I'm considering not getting any of them pulled.
I had a wisdom tooth sitting on a nerve. One Dentist told me I'd need a really good specialist and then my Dentist/Ortho told me she would "try" to remove it. I ended up having all four removed at the same time and while it wasn't as bad as it could have been it's not a weekend I'd like to re-live. The day after I had them removed I went back to my Dentist/Ortho for a post-op follow-up. After she examined me and said everything was healing very well she told me there were no complications or problems during the procedure and I quote "most Dentists wouldn't have even touched that tooth, the would have said 'you have to have that removed in a hospital.' But not me!" So, I'm sitting there thinking "and now you tell me?" But in the grand scheme of things it actually worked out because I'd have been way more nervous to have to have it removed in a hospital. Good luck with whatever you decide (hopefully, they can work around the wisdom teeth).
