The funny thing is that what tomorrow is for you is actually today for me! It is the 30th were I live and my pre op is on the 31st. For you I am betting that your pre op is on the 30th. It is so odd being ahead a day in time zone from all my friends and family. On the plus side I always get phone calls on two days when celebrating special days!

I can't BELIEVE the site went down right before my surgery, but have made it through and am absolutely thrilled with the outcome! Have posted some pics on my blog (below) along with my account of the surgery. I am so very lucky and have had minimal pain and numbness, and even the swelling and bruising isn't too hideous!

I can't believe this site went down right when I really wanted to be on it, too, LOL!!! My son's surgery was Monday April 6, he came home from the hospital April 7. All went well, but he is so swollen and in a lot of pain still, so we can't tell how anything looks or functions yet!

Vena, your pictures look fabulous! I can't believe you look so good already. What is your secret?!?! I LOVE the new you! :D

I have no idea! Feel much more swollen now though. Think girls just have more delicate features to begin with, so it doesn't *look* as bad?

I have been using a lot of bruise relief cream also since I came out - it is made from a herbal remedy called Arnica; I'm not one for alternative therapies etc but it's always helped a lot because I bruise easily in my everyday life already!

Also, drinking LOTS of water. And anything I can get into my mouth. Mum has just made me a smoothie with blueberry and pomegranate juice, strawberries and toffee ice cream and it is going down a TREAT! It's a bit of a chore though! And I never noticed how much people eat on TV before! :)

I keep hearing about this Arnica cream but I am not able to find it anywhere....it could be that I am in Japan but even the BX (Air Force store on base) doesn't have it. I guess I will see how well I can heal without it :(

Best of Luck to my April Buddies!

#25 Post by cyn »

I've been reading this forum religiously for the last few months but haven't posted much - this forum has been a GREAT resource for me, and has answered so many of my Q's.

My surgery (BSSO) is scheduled for tomorrow (17th) to correct my underbite. I have been wearing invisalign for the last 10 months, and will be undergoing refinements after the healing process. In my case, since there are no braces for the surgery hooks to attach to, they will be drilling mini screws into my gums and placing elastics on them to keep my jaws in place (lightly banded). I'm excited that this day has finally come, and very soon I may have a functional bite!

Just wanted to wish you all the best of luck my April Buddies! and THANK YOU for sharing your stories here - they have given me much comfort and confidence in going forth with this surgery!

Hope it went well Cyn! Look forward to hearing about your recovery, it's great being on the other side once the worst is over I promise!!! And having teeth that bite properly at the front is heavenly!!!

And good luck Twinjoy! It's normal to be nervous, but you will be absolutely fine! If a big baby like me can get through it you'll have no worries!

Will be thinking of you all! xxx

I hope everything went well Cyn, I can't wait till you feel good enough to update us on your progress!

My surgery is on Monday and I work all weekend so maybe that will help keep my mind off of it.

Show time isn't until 11:00 am so I know I will be driving myself crazy that day! I wish it was in the morning!

Sugery Cancelled :(

#28 Post by cyn »

Thank you for the support Vena and Twinjoy!
Best of luck to you Twinjoy on your upcoming surgery!!!
Vena- your blog has been really inspirational :) I can only hope that my healing process goes as well as yours! you look amazing!!

... so after having confirmation the morning before my surgery date, the office called me in the afternoon informing me that the hospitol had cancelled ALL operations scheduled on my surgery day! ... I sympathize for those who have waited so long to get this "over with". .. so my new date is not until June 5th - I may have to leave this post now to join my new "June Buddies" :)

but THANK you for your thoughts and kind support - I will definately post again with an update !!

I am heading in to surgery in a couple hours. Surgery at 12:30 in the afternoon is cruel! I am so hungry and can't wait to be on the other side recovering.

I am bringing my laptop and hope to post again when I feel up to it.
