Yeah I got one on the front too but it's only small and not really noticeable. The ones at the back are more annoying because they get in the way and I can't form a proper bite so can't really chew properly. At least it is stopping me eating things like pizza and crisps because there is a lot of chewing involved!!

Yeah I found it really hard to eat the first few days with the things on the back. Got used to it pretty quickly though. Have them off now and my teeth feel weird cos they are so smooth but I can eat properly again which is great! How long have you had them now?

Got the braces last wednesday, so have them a week and a day! And got the composite fillings in on Monday. How long before yours were taken off? Did your brace stay up by itself then?

I didn't get the composites until week 6. Had them on for about 6 weeks or so. The brace does stay up on its own without them but it is very low so back to lisping again! The pressure is on all the teeth at the front and back now whereas as before it didn't go against all the teeth because they were crooked (if you know what I mean)!!

If you have any questions just let me know. I had loads of questions and it was great to be able to read answers to them here!

Hopefully I don't have much longer to go. I'll have them for 4 months and maybe a bit longer depending but I don't mind once they are straight at the end!

not much longer for me either (i hope)

I have been wearing them for approx 4 months, but I travel a lot, and simply dont wear them during the days that I travel.

So it has been slower as a result.

Average 18 hours per day otherwise.

The teeth either side of my front teeth are now almost far enough apart so that the front teeth can move backwards.

I think another week will be enough to get them wide enough, and then 3-4 weeks for the front teeth to move backwards.

So 5-6 weeks from now I should be finished.

I cannot wait.

I am very lucky that I work from home AND online, so nobody has ever seen me try and speak with it, I take it off to answer the phone etc...

My only regret was not getting an inman a few years ago... but better late than never.

Hi, all, I've been to the dentist today to have my first consultation (ie see if my case can be helped!!) I have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now.. I just hope this will work for me too. Well I've been told that I'm good to go so I've got my appointment for impressions etc in May (I know...ages to go, but the guy is on holiday).
My case is apparently not too bad, basically it's my two front teeth, they are turned out the way and slightly rotated (that sounds awful..) :)
Will keep on reading this forum as a means for keeping focused... Hope you all keep it going, it's the only place on the web about the inman aligner!!

M xx

Still thinking about it....

Hi Guys!

Been readin this for a few weeks now and need some advice from people who have been through it before i take the plunge.

I've sent some pics to a top dentist in IA's who has said i would be suitable for an IA, but would need an expander as have got crowding in front 4 uppers. This is scaring me a bit as i dont get how it will 'expand' and if it will make my molars unaligned and them not straight?? Also how will my top and bottom teeth meet to chew if they move my top molars outwards??

I've been quoted £1850 for the whole treatment (been told up to 20 weeks!) including all check ups and clear retainer and expander fitted to IA. Is this reasonable??

Please help!!

Thanks! xxx

Week three

#250 Post by nicesmile77 »

Hi,

Haven't posted in a while. Got my inmans about three weeks ago and it hasn't been too bad at all. Some tenderness for about 4 days and the filing of the teeth sounds worse than it is, in fact it's over in about a minute.
My dentist has not mentioned anything about an arch expander or composite fillings so I'm not sure what any of these are!!! I had a problem with my aligner in the second week because the coil at the back came away and so there was little or no pressure for about a week before I copped it and went back to the dentist...I thought I was just getting used to it!
Not sure if I see any difference or if I should start to see a difference at this point. I am wearing mine about 22 hours a day. The lisping was bad but the dentist gave me wax to make a sort of palate so my speech has greatly improved.
Other than that, I have to say you get used to it pretty quickly. I just hope that I start to see some movement in the next couple of weeks!

Hi all,

Not logged on for a while now... My next dental appointment is tomorrow where i hope i will be getting my mould taken for my retainer.

I have had an arch expander and the composites on my teeth, i've had the lot.

I started on 20th Nov and am nearing the end of the Inman aligner. I'll report back tomorrow once i find out the latest news.

The composites are like blobs of glue to hold the brace where it should be, i had these on my two front teeth for about 8 weeks - not the nicest but they have gone now :)

All i can say is persevere, the time goes so quickly - it is the best money i have ever spent.

£1800 is about what i paid for Inman, Arch Expander, apps and retainer

If i feel brave enough to follow in Jules footsteps i'll pop some before and after pics up - if i can stand to look at them

IA first day nerves !!!!!!

#252 Post by sandiepandie »

hi everyone

well .. got my IA yesterday afternoon and must say that so far no obvious pain at all except for slight ache when taking it out or putting it back in !!! ... but my speech is really terrible !! i am off work for 9 days holiday now so hopefully will improve in this time !!! ...

so glad i took the plunge to go ahead with this (and this is no mean feat for me i must say !!) and looking forward to just having a "normal" smile !!!! ....

thanks to all the people who have taken the time to contribute to this forum and the before and after photos are great ... its really encouraging to read about everyones experiences and to know you arent the only "non - teenager" on the planet with teeth stuff going on !!!!

i live in Scotland and i think our IA dentists are very  limited - but mine is great !!!!

Just wondering if anyone else is using wax with their inman? The dentist told me that there are two schools of thought, one is that the wax does not interfere with the inman and the other which says that it does.I'm using the wax when I'm at work mainly so I can be understood (my speech is infinitely better with the wax) but I would be interested to know if everyone else is using it!
Buzz, good on ya, nearly there! Can you remember when you started to see results. I'll have had mine a month next Tuesday but don't really see any huge difference

Hi nicesmile when you say you are using wax, how do you mean?
This has never been mentioned to me, and my speech hasn't really improved at all in the 5 weeks I've had the IA. Do you only use it when you have the expander? I haven't got this.

I've had a noticeable improvement in the straightness of my top two teeth, and am due to go back to the dentist in 11 days, so hopefully he'll be able to see it too.

Buzz, you must put up photos when it's complete! It definitely helps the rest of us. Seeing the results makes it all worthwhile :D :D

my dentist gave me a little container of wax - i think if you feel the wires rubbing anywhere you put a little ball of it onto the wire to stop the irritation and let the sore bit heal up .. i noticed someone on this forum said to use chewing gum for the same thing !!! ...
