Does everyone get attachments?

Does everyone get attachments?

#1 Post by paramed1 »

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick question.... in reading through these posts, I was just wondering if everyone gets attachments?
Has anyone gone through the treatment without getting them?
FYI... Im on my third week, and I'm scheduled to get attachments next week... not looking forward to it!!

I think most now get them as even if they're not for tooth movement they're to hold aligners down on the teeth in general.

I'd expect most get them on the premolars and maybe cuspids, but those are very hard to see.

Hi there,
I think Invisalign are using them more and more now. I haven't seen or heard of anyone not having them. Having said that I only have five and they aren't too visible. Lots of people and ortho's aren't aware but they can be placed on the back of your teeth in many cases.

I have seven, including two on the back of my front teeth and five on my pre-molars. None are where they are visible.

Hopefully, you've been told where the attachments are going or seen the Clincheck that shows this info. If you don't know, you may feel more comfortable asking in advance so you'll know what to expect.

The procedure for me was painless and there was only some minor filing to smooth the edges after they were on.

My biggest problem with them is they make it more difficult to remove my trays, which is why they usually aren't put on at first. After a week or so, this got a lot easier after I figured out the best way to get them out. They also feel rough and irritate the inside of my cheeks when my aligners are out.

So I think I will be getting four attachments on the upper arch... I think they are going on the canine and bicuspid. Does anyone else have them there, and how noticeable are they?

i got my attachments today. They are not as bad as i expected. I have got 5 of them so not too bad. none of them are visible when i talk or smile which is good. My teeth feel really tight with them and i was having problems taking my trays off! I hope this will get better !They are funny looking though and not very attractive , i think. But as i said before they show when i talk or smile.

I only have one attachement, on a canine.

It's a bit strange, cos my teeth are kind of symmetrically crooked, both sides look excactly the same with the same problem (both lateral incisors are rotated) and I only got the attachement on one side. So maybe there is something to the theory that everybody gets at least one just to hold the aligner in place?

Two guys have noticed, one thought it was some kind of diamond or decoration and the other one said I had some food or gum or something stuck on my tooth! I've spent a lot of time with them both, and it took a while before they noticed.

So they are visible, but not that noticeable.

It still bugs me though, I think about it when I smile - but then again, I always think about my teeth when I smile, that's why I'm doing this!

My ortho said that she could actually request to invisalign that attachments go on the side teeth (I guess if its possible in the particular case)

Both of my upper canines and an upper biscupid have attachments, and they are not particularly noticeable (especially compared to the incisors). Here you go!

Initial set: 31 upper / 17 lower
1st refinement: 14 upper / 10 lower
2nd refinement: 10 upper / 5 lower

hey there!

i think as most have said, pretty much most people will need attachments, but honestly dont worry too much bout them bein noticible or anythin like that,

i had them on for nearly a year (3 top, 3 bottom) and i was talking to my best friend bout them coming off before my refinements and she was like 'what the hell are attachments?!' and i had to explain and point them out to her cuz she'd NEVER noticed them! and this is someone i see nearly every day and constantly tell her to check out how straight my teeth are getting!

anyways if you want the best results possible and lovely straight teeth they're very necessary

hope this helped :D
