Best of Luck Twinjoy!
or in Japanese we say "Gambatte"!! I hope your surgery has gone well and I want to wish you a speedy recovery
Well I am home from the hospital and trying to recover. Sleeping is not happening easily and I wake up with back aches from trying to sleep upright. I have yet to get up the energy to take a shower but hope it will make me feel better when I do today.
The surgery took about 3 hrs and the doc said I lost a lot more blood then anticipated. He said most looks about 200-300cc and I lost 950 but he didn't need to do a transfusion. After I woke from surgery at about 3 pm I didn't stop throwing up until about 1 am. I couldn't seem to get all the blood out of my throat and my breathing sounded like gurgling. Once I finally stop throwing up I was scared to get pain meds because I thought that was making me sick. Once the nurse garaunteed that I would be fine I took some more pain medication and slept for about 5 hrs. I had a very small breakfast in the morning (They woudln't give me a syringe and didn't have any baby spoons and the big spoon wouldn't fit in my mouth.) Word of advice, if you aren't going the zip n squeeze route bring your baby spoons with you. I thought they would have some but I was way wrong.
I will add some pictures after I take a new one today, the doc was right when he said that after my head wrap came off my swelling would go down my face quick.
Good luck to all the May surgeries!

just shows twinjoy .. one should prepare for the hospital having nothing...... prepare to take in everything . I have the baby spoon, baby toothbrush AND zip n squeeze pacled already
seriously tho
glad you are relatively ok and are home where you can relax and take your time recovering. Sounds like you had a hard time of it at forst so be gentle with yourself.
Hope you feel a bitt better after a shower and manage to get some sleep

Congrats on coming thru your op OK, twinjoy, and hope you're feeling much better soon.
Please take care having your shower in case you come over faint (I did.) Maybe take a plastic stool in there with you, to sit down if need be, or have someone near to hand in case you need any help.
Hope that's not being alarmist, but thought a word of caution was in order after the blood loss and nausea

I am new to posting here but have found this forum awesome for information in the lead up to my surgery on 24th April. I had a BSSO with bone grafting from my iliac crest. The back of my jaw also had to be narrowed to come nearer in line to the top. I have to go back for the upper (Le Fort I) in September. So far I am amazed how well I feel! I have needed no pain meds since leaving the recovery room.....ice seems to keep it controlled. Swelling peaked Sunday/Monday but is much better today now the bruising has come out. I can even smile today Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone who have posted after their surgeries as it made me feel much more confident going into mine
Thanks for the kind words Sauerkraut and Tazzle! I did get a shower and feel much better, I had the hubby nearby in case I felt faint but luckily I was fine. I have been out and around somewhat, no longer then 45 min each trip and am always tired and ready to get back home. Been keeping up with the pain pills and hope the swelling decreases soon.
