August crew!!!

#1 Post by changes09 »

Who is having their surgery done in August!?! I don't have an exact date yet, but my doc said i'll be ready in August and my OS said he can get me in the last week of August. He said after I get the molds/casts to him he will give me the day! YAY!

I will tentatively (and hopefully!) say I'm up for August. Last time I saw my ortho she said 6 months, which put it at August :? I have an appointment next week so hopefully I will get good news, and not have to wait any longer.

It really needs to be August or sooner though, because I go back to university in Sept so can't exactly do both

If not I will be extremely disappointed

Hmmm well the first (and only so far) time I met surgeon he said "see you in 18 months" which brings it to the end of July/beginning of August. I plan to hassle my orthodontist at my adjustment next week to see if i'm actually on track, i've been quiet and patient so far! I still have gaps but who knows? I really really hope it will happen in the summer, I feel like i've been waiting a century! Oh to be braces free...
Good luck everybody :)!

Oh my dear crazybeautiful, sorry to hear that your surgery was delayed. :( Was the delay because of the gaps you mentioned in the other post? But think on the bright side, your jaws will be in better position before the operation, and so, a better bite afterward.

Don't worry! Time flies!

Yeah it because of the gap. She needs to 'redistribute the space', apparantly

I have to say time is not flying for me as of late. But it will once I'm over the initial disappointment, you're both right :)

My ortho did give me a DVD to watch about it though. It has a little £D animation of the prcedure, and patients experiences. It cheered me up a bit actually, as I had a good laugh at the braces section when the guy on the DVD was saying how dreadful it is to drink fizzy pop and have cruncht foods whilst braced....as I was sat drinking some coke and eating crisps (or chips to you in the US) :P

The ortho would not give you the DVD if you were not close! And about the gaps....their is no tellin ghow fast they will move. My doc first said I'd be ready in may/june but my gaps closed to slow. So I had a date of December. Then my gaps closed so fast that he moved it from December to August. And now he said I could be ready in July. If you dont mind me asking where are your gaps located?

I am waiting for my molars to move. My premolars seemed to take forever and my canines. And my moalrs are moving wuick! I'm surprised becuase the moarls are so big and have strong roots

I had SARPE in '07 because of really bad crowding- and the two main culprits were my canines, which sat above the arch. After SARPE, I had to have the 2 teeth removed that are next to the canines (upper 4ths, I believe) and so the gaps I had were where those teeth were, so that my canines would take their place.
Anyway the right gap closed pretty much straight away (as in well over a year ago!) so now I just have one gap on the left side, as the canine just won't move into the new space. I think perhaps because I expanded by quite a lot (10mm), there may be slghtly too much room there, so therefore it's not just the canine that needs to move but the surrounding teeth as well. That's how I interpret what my ortho called 'redistributing the space' anyway.

I don't mind the waiting when I can see things aren't right yet, but other than the gap my teeth are perfect, and I just think why don't you get on with closing the gap now, and not later!

Fomr my experican one side of the mouth moves faster then the other. And once the canine's move (Which I feel are the slowerst to move.....very slow for only having one root) the rest of the teeth follow rather quickly. So good luck!

at least you guys are not left in the dark and not know an estimate. You guys have something to look foward too. Even I don't have a difnate surgery date. I just have an estimated surgery ready date....that always seems to be changing.
