Lingual braces and gaps

#1 Post by asabea »

Is anyone using lingual braces and has gaps between teeth? I know that you will be able to see some wire when I speak, however I cannot bring myself to have them placed on the outside.

The way I see it, I will be paying a considerable sum either way so why not get the system I am most comfortable with.

Am I mad?

Comfortable in an aesthetic way, as I know of all the discomfort associated with lingual braces. I have been told I have a big tongue that thrusts so I expect the pain to be 10x worse than average, but on the flip side I have lips that would put Angelina Jolie to shame and do not want to pout anymore than I currently do!

Hi. I have lingual braces. I didn't initially have gaps between my teeth, but as I've had extractions, there has appeared a gap between my canine and a front tooth, as the extractions sites are closing.

I'm not sure how large your gaps are, but I would guess mine is about 2mm, and you cannot see them at all. So no need to worry I think.

Gaps in lower teeth

I have huge gaps in my lower teeth and my dentist told me that closing the gaps will be first thing that will be done with lingual braces. And no, no one has noticed my braces or wires sticking out unless i tell them.
