I'm coming up to the end of my treatment (long time lurker, newbie poster ) but for the last couple of weeks my ortho seems to be having problems with the final alignment of my teeth.
They were all looking pretty damn good except that my upper right central was sitting slightly too far forward, so he put a bend in the centre of the wire to bring the tooth inline with the others - only this then pushed the left upper central too far back. So another adjustment was made a week later and hooray! the centrals were now aligned perfectly But the upper left lateral had now moved back
This has been going on now about 3 weeks - 1 tooth is moved to the correct alignment, but in doing so it brings something else out of alignment. I think I currently have 3 different bends in this wire, and following an adjustment today my left central is now too far back (again) and hitting on my bottom teeth.
Right, waffle over onto my question!
Has anyone else ever had off-sets put in their wires and did it cause problems? I shall be going back to the ortho again on Monday (might just move in as I've been there so often the last 3 weeks ) and I am wondering whether he is likely to just put me back into a 'normal' (ie no added bends) wire rather than constantly shifting individual teeth
It's very frustrating to have all this shifting going on so close to de-banding

Hi Jaycee,
i'm having this exact same problem myself too!!
My lowers are nearing the end of their treatment. They have been in the stiff rectangular wire for some time now. Like you, i found that my teeth looked pretty good, all flush and nice, except that 1 or 2 were a little "off" due to misalignment (bad positioning) of brackets.
So last week, my ortho said he would put some bends in the wire to correct those teeth. (i always thought that you're supposed to have a finishing wire first before putting bends in, is that right? Or is a finishing wire optional?? Or is THIS the finishing wire?? Haha) Damn, it was soo painful when he put the wire in!!
When i got home and checked my teeth the next day, i got such a shock!! My lower teeth are no longer nice and flush. Some have moved slightly back, making my teeth appear like this - back-front-back-front They look terrible!! It seems like when he makes a bend, it affects the other teeth as well. i wonder if this bending practice is a good thing?! Which is why i'm as puzzled as you

I am having a similar problem with my front teeth. My ortho has moved the bracket on the left central twice and it still hasn't improved-it's actually worse, I think. He said he'd bend the wire at my next appt. if they're still sitting uneven but now, reading your posts, I'm nervous. Please keep me posted on how it all works out:)
Keep smilin'!

It seems like many of us here are having the same problems with these offset or bent wires. I actually sent a message to jaycee uk about this a few weeks ago and she said the ortho eventually ended up using a straight (with no bends) wire to get a good result.
My ortho will bend my wire and my tooth will literally move within hours to a funny position-then he moves another and the tooth he was fixing looks okay but another one will get funny. I am so sick of this too.
Best of luck.

Ok, good to know that i'm not the only one feeling frustrated with this problem...
But, guys, when you refer to the wire that your ortho is bending, is this the finishing wire?? What is the difference between a finishing wire and, say, the thick rectangular stainless steel wire?? Or are they both the same thing??
Hoping somebody can enlighten me, thanks...
