I got my invisalign last Thursday u20/l20 - really strange at first, I didn't tell anyone I was going not even my husband. No one has noticed so far and my hubby only noticed because I put the whitening gel in the fridge & he asked what it was. I do feel conscious and I think I lisp but he assures me I don't. Eating is not too much of a problem , but I really miss my coffee breaks. I have my first day at work today & have come prepared with toothbrush/paste etc so I can scrub up after lunch.
I have checked out the forum as I get my attachments in 2 weeks, I am abit worried about these. Are they visible? Is it harder to get them retainers on and off? All in all not too bad at the moment, but you are conscious of them all the time. Anyone else out there with the same/different experiences?

hi, i have got 5 attachments but they are all on the side or at the back so they are not visible. The trays are only hard to take of at the start of a new set after you have your attachments put on. for me its the first 2 days then i have no problems at all removing them. I am on set 7 of 21/21 and i must say i am still aware of my trays but i am really used to them now and i really prefer having them in then out. My teeth look so much better with the trays in. By the way i drink my coffee with them and havent had any problems with it.

I have pictures on my blog of my attachements. I don't find them visible, but they do make taking the aligners off harder at first.
Don't worry though, it really does get easier. It sounds like you are doing well with them already, and it will get a lot easier than it is now a couple of months down the line so you should be fine.

Things do get better after a while. I generally am aware of my aligners most of the time, but they are not that uncomfortable. I'm actually more uncomfortable with them out because my attachments scrape the inside of my mouth when they are exposed.
I have had some trouble removing them because of my attachments, which are large and rectangular - it does get easier after I figured out the best way to do it. You'll probably find that you will figure this out in a couple of days after your attachment s are on.
Even if there are attachments on front teeth, they probably aren't going to be that noticeable. I think most ortho patients are overly sensitive about stuff on their teeth and I'm not an exception. So far, nobody has noticed either my aligners or a visible attachment on an upper premolar. I did have one friend who didn't believe I had plastic braces until I pulled down the rear of one of my aligners!!

i was the same at the beginning, i thought they were SO visible and obvious and felt like i had a massive boxing mouthguard or something in my mouth,
but honestly, a few weeks in and i had to double check that i had them in at night because i was so used to wearing them that it didnt even feel like they were there
also i had a promminent lisp at the start but that completely disappeared after a week or two
i had 8 attachments and they were not visible at all really, they matched my tooth colour perfectly, however they did make it more difficult to take the trays out but again, after a week or so and stocking up on some of those dentist hook things i was able to do it no bother

I actually just got 18! attachments placed on my teeth 3 days ago. They are rectangular in shape and were placed at the bottom of each tooth. I have 10 across the front top teeth and eight across the bottom front teeth. I was terrified about how I would look; however, they honestly don't look that bad. If anything, my aligners fit much better now. They also aren't really that visible unless I happen to be smiling widely.
The first night it took me 35 minutes to get the upper and lower back into my mouth after eating. I was sure that I would never get used to them and would never be able to eat while I was out of the house. The second day I was down to 15 minutes. I'm happy to report that by day 3, its taking me about a minute to remove and replace each aligner. I don't look forward to changing aligners, but at least I know it won't be so bad after the first couple of days. So, anyone who reads this can take heart that attachments (especially if you have a lot less than I do) aren't really that bad.

Nobody is gonna top that....Hi thanks to you all for the supportive messages - I see my dentist tomorrow & get the attachments so I'll let you know how I get on.
One good thing Ivisalign is good for the weight loss - don't snack as I can't be bothered to brush again!! I don't know about you guys but I do think you should be made aware of the attachments at the start I didn;t know anything about them till I got my 1st tray & saw the bumps. None of the literature or videos showed them. Not such a good sales tool I suppose is it. I shall tell my dentist this tomorrow, although would it have put me off having them? Not sure.

Well I have had my attachments fitted today 6 but I think they have missed one out. Not too bad doesn't look as bad I thought it would. Retainer abit tighter but I change up to my 2nd one on Sat so I don't know how that one will feel. Infact its better with the retainer in than out as they feel abit rough in your mouth & eating didn't feel right although I am sure this will get better with time. Not due back at dentist for 6 weeks now so I hope to see some improvement by then. The cost obviously does vary greatly £4k in the NE to £2400 I wonder why such a difference. I am in the Midlands and my dentist is a Platinum practitioner whatever that means. I did mention today that I thought the attachments should be made more aware of but I was met with speak to Invisalign direct. LLoydy
