I eat everything I did before I had braces. I decided before I got braces I wasn't going to let them change any part of me, not even what I eat! After my adjustments I will eat whatever I want. Sure it hurts but I just push through it. I also think I am the only or one of the only people who doesn't care if my ligs get stained! I am also not self conscious of food getting stuck in my braces. If someone pointed out I had food stuck in my braces I would just laugh it off.
When food gets stuck on top/bottom of my braces as a shelf it doesn't bother me either. I also don't break food up before I eat it, all my friends who had braces always ask me "how can you eat that without breaking it up? doesn't it hurt?" lol Especially when I got powerchains, my friend thought I was crazy the way I was eating the night I first got them. I mean sure my teeth ached but I didn't really care and I don't want to eat soft foods simply to avoid discomfort. From reading these posts maybe I am just weird!
The only thing I don't like in my teeth is dental wax..I hate how little bits of it will fall off randomly in my mouth and it feels like I have a dead little bug in my mouth. It is also a pain to get out because of the way it latches onto my braces. Thankfully I have only had to use that once when the skin was raw and bleeding. My dad suggested I put some on so my lip would stop bleeding but next time I think I will just deal with the blood/soreness because I hate dental wax!
Food you no longer like now you have braces?

I still eat most of the same things. I do try to avoid rice, noodles, poppy seeds, meat (like many others, it's the one thing I can't stand knowing is stuck in my braces!). Chips are a pain... and I hate eating crackers now because gobs of it just gum up around the brackets.
Things I haven't eaten at all since getting the braces is mostly candy/junk food kinds of things - Snickers, Starburst, caramel.
Because I have a TPA in my mouth, I also don't eat ice cream very much. I never thought about it before, but when you eat ice cream, you kind of smoosh it on the roof of your mouth with your tongue (or I did), but now every time I do that, those stupid brackets that hold the TPA in scrape my tongue - and since everything is so cold, it ends up hurting a lot by the time I'm done. Not worth it.

I'm eating a lot of stuff like oatmeal, pasta, rice, cereal. I'm becoming less and less concerned about what gets stuck. I'm too much of a foodie to stay away from it all. I'm still not eating anything really crunchy or crumbly though - I'm still afraid that I'll somehow break off a bracket even though that's probably unlikely. I am still cutting up my food though. I don't like the feeling of stuff all smooshed in the braces in front.

It's nuts!
You know, I read this post and laughed at some of them because I could somewhat relate but it didn't really apply to me until today when I cracked open my favorite can of nuts. nuts that I had not eaten since I was braced. Nuts that became a mass of tiny bits that I was spewing out over an hour later. Nuts that felt dusty and dry in my mouth occupying all the new little spaces in between my teeth.
I now officially hate nuts!
