I am 40. This is my first time ever in braces. I needed them badly as a child but financially, and lifestyle wise, they were not in the bargain.
I have full mouth photos, but not on this computer, maybe I will post them later. Anyway, it's the two front teeth I am really amazed with.
I told my ortho, when I was in second grade, we had school photographs taken. When the photos were returned to us, I suddenly realized my teeth were terribly crooked. I did not fully understand why they were crooked. I could remember they previously had been straight (baby-teeth, obviously). So, while all the children exchanged 2nd grade photos, I went and dug out my Kindergarten photographs so I could have straight teeth pictures.
Here I am. First time with two straight front permanent teeth in my entire life. ONE! MONTH! IN!
Feeling emotional about the changes.

Hi all.
I go for my first tightening on Thursday.
At 5-13 in the first photo, my initial "braces on" she placed a partial wire front 4 teeth, and bands. On 5/21 I had both first premolars extracted, and on the morning of 5/26 after a Memorial Weekend recovery, I had the full wire placed.
What is shocking is how much my profile has shifted already from that front teeth moving in.
I am really amazed at the change. Sarahlynn - I read a lot about the engineering of tooth movement, and the 'underground' teeth roots move in 1 - 2 weeks and then the visible part catches up. So, for 2 weeks I really felt like no change and then literally day-by-day you could see it.
But, my gaps are not filling - (sad face here) I gather I need rubber bands or power chains for that? I'm still learning. Front teeth are straightening, but I will post full photos later, I also have one tooth 50% behind a front tooth and he'll need to be pulled forward at some point - he couldn't be bracketed because there wasn't enough surface.
