I have metal braces. Why didn't I get to pick colors? It's just the brackets and the wires. No pretty bands.
...My head hurts. Teeth extractions tomorrow morning

New braces on 3 hours ago also.
Hi Tamatha2002,
I just had my braces put on around the same time. I have the self ligating like yours.
So far no pain, just pressure. I'll see what happens in a couple of hours. I can't stop touching them though.
I am so happy I did this and I can't wait for straight teeth. Good Luck!

It'll be two weeks later today.
I am happy to report that I've been eating solids since the weekend began... The food that gets stuck in my braces could probably feed a small child.
Unfortunately, I still have a lisp.
All of the little hooks on my braces are doing a great job of cutting up the insides of my mouth. I gob wax over some of the hooks, but it's too time consuming to cover all of the hooks (they're on each canine and each premolar and molar). I find myself puffing out my cheeks to dislodge my skin from the braces... A lot.

3rd adjustment
Hey guys!
My second adjustment was a piece of cake... They just "fully engaged" my wires (aka snapped the wire into 2 brackets that were too crooked for the wire to snap into at first).
I had my third adjustment this past Thursday. They removed the old archwire and placed a new archwire on my bottom teeth. They added a new archwire on the top teeth... But they didn't take the old wire out. Does anyone know the purpose of doubling up wires?
The archwires extend to all of my 2nd molars now. I'm not used to my 2nd molars hurting. I've found that brushing is ALWAYS one of the most painful things to do after an adjustment.
The orthodontist said that my gaps (from the extractions) aren't ready to be closed yet. Because my teeth aren't straight enough to move together.
I said "boooooo." They laughed.
Maybe next time.

Heya,
glad to hear you're getting used to the braces! It's a process that will seem tot ake forever but also will fly by. I recommend taking pictures each month, that way you will be able to see JUST how much movement there is! It's hard to see when you're looking in the mirror eveyr day but in just a year my teeth are perfectly straight, as opposed to the two years originally planned!
