SarahLynn Thank you! its gone quite quick this first 10 days, lets hope thats a sign of things to come! I've got a little chart on my wall where i colour in the date of each day i've had braces :D
Are they waiting for your uppers to get sorted before you get your lowers? I'm just waiting cos i didnt want the full initial shock of a full metal mouth, but i'm going to see if i can get ceramics up at the top, but i suppose it all just depends on money!
Just remember we're all in this for a reason! It'll all be worth it in the end, even if it all feels abit rubbish right now!

Margie Thank you! I'm glad i'm past the worst, i felt like the first 3 days were going to kill me, but things have soo settled down & weirdly, i think i'm starting to fall in love with my braces!
The only problem with eating now is that everything gets soo stuck in them! But biting down is fine, but thats probably because my uppers arent braced yet

mwic1985Thats awful, i never liked my original dentist, i dont think he sympathised with my fear, i think in the end he took my off his books. I was soo happy to find my new dentist! She's been so much help, the same with her assistant. & i got a lovely woman while she was on maternity leave, who now works in my ortho's office! She says i'm her favourite patient, although i'm sure she says them to them all :P
Well done on getting your teeth pulled, i was soo happy when i got mine done, i felt like a weight had been lifted off me! I was so happy that as soon as i woke up from the general, i turned to the woman & was like "did i do it?" & then burst into tears when she said yes, which seems so silly now but i never thought i'd get rid of those stupid fangy teeth!

xTcoo-er another manc! from the best city in the UK eh? Well, its my favourite anyway hahaha!
I'm being treated by Mr Hall in Rochdale, he's soo nice, very patient with me, which i like!
Thank you! I've always hated my teeth, i cant wait for all this to be over! I'm actually really excited about getting my uppers braced now! in 18 months it'll all be over! The only thing i'm nervous with is that i'm moving to uni in sept, i hope people dont find it weird that i'm 19 & have braces :(
Lower Braces = 22nd June 09 - 2nd Sept 10 (14 months, 1 week & 4 days)
Upper braces = 10th August 09 - 2nd Sept 10 (12 months, 3 weeks & 2 days)

Don't worry it's not that uncommon, I used know a girl at Uni and she had braces, that was a few back and she has a nice smile now! I also work with a guy who's just left Uni, and got his braces in the final year. He was 'late' due to the NHS keeping him waiting(!) so people won't even assume you must have had a dentist phobia!

Plus, as has been said before, better to see someone and think "oh she has braces" than to think "oh she needs braces" - and of course many, many people these days have had braces at some point in their life, so they're not going to think it's odd.
Oh and you and others will be too drunk or hungover to actually notice that fine amount of detail anyway.

I dont think i'm overly bothered, no-ones really made a big deal of back home, plus i know so many people thats had them in the past!

& i like that saying, thats whats spurred me on, i think i've read you post it elsewhere, its so true, i dont want people going "omg she needs braces" at least i'm doing something about it!

Yes they are waiting on my uppers to get a bit sorted before my lowers go on - the ortho's #1 priority is bringing my 2 teeth in cross bite forward. I have a retainer/bite plate on my lowers to allow for those two teeth to come forward (otherwise my bottom teeth would prevent them from coming forward because my bite is so deep). I wish I could be fully braced though, I can't wait for my lowers to go on - I know that that's really when they can start correcting my bite.

I'm glad that you're liking your braces, I'm becoming sort of fond of mine too - I think they look kinda cute on me

Trust me they won't find it weird, it's awesome that you care enough to go out and make a positive change in your life, it takes courage. Everyone has seen braces so it's not like you've got a bag over your head all day or something really weird, lol.

18 months will fly by and I swear it's the best feeling ever when you get them off and see how amazing your teeth are! I know because I had braces as a teen so this is my 2nd time around!

SarahLynnI think i've read your story, but don't worry, your lowers will be on soon enough & everything will get moving!
I want things to be moving abit faster, cos i'm so impatient!!

xTcThats what keeps spurring me on, the excitment of getting them taken off when they're done! I think with how busy i'll be with uni & stuff, 18 months will get pretty fast, i mean i've nearly done 2 weeks already :O

I was supposed to get them on on 10th August, same as my first adjustment on my lowers, but i'm going on holiday a few days later, so i dont wanna be in pain for my holiday

so i have to get them on afterwards, i'll just have to be in pain when i move into my new flat!

I dont think theres much visible movement, its only me that notices when my teeth clank together at different times

After the weekend i'll get the pic up pre-braces i havent posted yet, it shows how bad they really were beforehand!
They're still webcam pics cos i'm still struggling with the proper camera :P

first day in braces

Day 23

I think the only movement is the wonky ones at the side, but only slightly :(

But in better news, i will be getting my uppers on 10th Aug, otherwise i'd have to wait till 16th sept & i dont want to wait that long!
Lower Braces = 22nd June 09 - 2nd Sept 10 (14 months, 1 week & 4 days)

Its my 1 month brace anniversary

Yayy i made it a month! Only 17/18 to go

Thought i'd finally post my pre-brace picture, even though its not great
I'll post a link cos i'm not sure how big the picture will be
http://tinypic.com/r/k2lc9v/3

The 2 wonky ones have moved right into the gaps, & the bottom 4 have become much straighter

& today its been decided that i'm going to have ceramic uppers! My parents have decided to fund all the £1800 that it is, which i'm so grateful for, so they go on on the 10th August!
Lower Braces = 22nd June 09 - 2nd Sept 10 (14 months, 1 week & 4 days)
Upper braces = 10th August 09 - 2nd Sept 10 (12 months, 3 weeks & 2 days)
