23 and getting braces 2day!
Hey everyone!
Im a 23 yr old male and im getting braces later today! I should of got braces years ago but they never really bothered me then, but now i hate my bottom front teeth as they are quite corwded. Im very concious about my teeth especially when i speak as i think everyone will notice how wonky they are. Im gettin ceramic braces top and bottom, My top teeth are pretty straight but i thought if im getting braces on the bottom i may aswell go the whole hog and get the top ones aswell so i get the best smile i can. Probably gonna get some stick from my mates for a while but im not that bothered coz it will be worth it in the long run. Anyway i just wanted to introduce myself. I will let u know how it goes later on.

Good luck, Sparky! I am on my 2nd complete day with braces. It's worse in the AM when I wake up. I have TMJ and think that causes more pain. I'm picking up a mouth guard today, and hope that provides relief. Make sure you have your wax (i'm sure the ortho will give some to you). Let us know how you make out!

right then brace buddies!
got my braces in yesterday. only got ceramics in the top in the end and metal in the bottom. the ceramics in the top are great, can hardly notice ive got them in myself. the metal ones in the bottom are obviously alot more noticeable but my lips cover them up most of the time so arent to bad. Havent experienced any pain yet, but eating is more difficult than i thought it would be. Sort to have to break food up into small bits and chew it with only my molars. Its wierd having them, i sort of like them in a strange way because i know that they are sorting my wonky teeth out. So in the long run it will be worth it. I am havin a bit of trouble pronouncing my s's, but im sure i will overcome this. Anyways so far so good!

Hey Sparky,
I felt like I had a bit of trouble pronouncing my S's to start with too (I'm 3 months into my treatment)... even sometimes now I have the odd lisp - usually only if I'm being lazy or have had a few drinks though! But all of my friends and family say they can't hear it - usually with these things we only hear it because we are so used to how we normally sound that the slightest difference is magnified...
Good luck with your first week in braces!!

hey people,
so ive had my braces on for almost a week and im just startin to get used to them. The inside of my lips got really really sore at one point last week coz i was tryin to be a man and not use wax so my lips would toughen up and get used to the braces but my gf basically made me put the wax on and i cant believe how goooood it felt! lol
The main thing i was worried about was the reaction i might get from my mates when they first saw me with braces. so anyway i went up the pub on friday night, it was packed full of my mates (gulp) but after the initial bit of piss takin everyone was cool about them as it seemed alot of them have had braces in the past and understood what its like. most of them said that they wouldnt of noticed i had them if i hadnt of pointed them out. good times!
still lisping my s's but i think its alot more noticeable to me than anyone else.
Thanks for all the support guys and good luck with your life in braces!
