How long will it take for my canine tooth to come down?!

Ive had braces on for a year and im getting the surgery for the canine exposure within a month and so when will the tooth be down? im 17. and i need to get my braces off in a little over a year for college. thanks!

also, the tooth that is impacted is vertical to the rest of my teeth

Hi, I had my impacted canine exposed when I was 15 and got it taken off last year at 17. I think I might have had it longer as I'm getting my underbite sorted though, and it stayed until my top teeth were ready for traintracks without my bottom teeth biting them off, but if you are literally just having this treatment and nothing else you might need the side brace for a shorter time period? I don't know. Ask your orthodontist, they'll be able to tell you
