Mouthwash for canker sores

#1 Post by RamboSally »

Hi all,

Anybody have any recommendations for mouthwash that is good for canker sores? I watched a YouTube video by a gal that wears Damon brackets and she said that she found this great mouthwash that worked really well but for some reason she did not disclose the name/brand of the mouthwash. I did some googling and didn't get any satisfactory results.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all in advance! :frogbraces:

Thanks you guys!!! This forum rocks! :-*

I don't have any yet, but I want to be prepared because I get them without the braces so I am sure I will get them *with* the braces. :soremouth:

Thanks again! :-*

I use Orajel Antiseptic Mouth Sore Rinse. It works amazingly well - I use it nightly in place of my usual mouthwash, right before bed. I went camping and forgot it for two days and voila! instant mouth sores. But if I use it daily it prevents them. Also if I feel a sore spot forming, I'll use it and the spot goes away.

Peroxyl is good, so is Zilactin-B (although it is really really gross, but it works) I also sometimes crush and swish licorice root to heal the sores--I found a place on this webiste (somewhere) that disscusses all these products, as well as natural alternatives--the licorice root works great, and tastes good too!! Check it out--maybe the admin of the forum could post the link to that area, I probably could never find it again!!

Thank you all for your responses.

An additional question:

Does anyone use Hydrogen Peroxide mixed with h2o and salt? Or just HP & h2o? I learned of Black Hairy Tongue today and am a little bit freaked out. The thing is, these OTC washes for cankers, the first ingredient is 1.5% HP. The rest of the ingredients are just fluff.

Let me know what you guys do/think if you are so moved!

Thanks again for your replies!
