Genioplasty "emergence" [pic if asked]

#1 Post by ZmaN277 »

I had a upper/lower/genio about 5.5 weeks ago, and although my bite looks a lot better, my chin still seems a bit recessed.

I think I read a couple times the chin will become more pronounced over time, and often looks recessed recent to the surgery, but I was just wondering at what point should I expect the "final" result to be there.

Thanks,

Zach

Full adaptation can take a year. Be patient.

Thought I'd throw the pictures up for the hell of it

Before [June 28th] Lack of prof due to bone resorption, overgrown maxilla, etc.

After [5.5 weeks, rest]

After [5.5 weeks, smile]

I think it looks a bit better when I'm smiling, I just hope my lips will meet naturally soon o.O

(Oh and I know I need a shave and a haircut, I've been a bit lazy since the surgery xD)

Wow! I think the difference is amazing - you look great especially for only 5.5 weeks. Many congratulations and best wishes for an uneventful and great recovery. God bless xx

Well your chin was severely recessed before the surgery and although it doesn't meet your lower lip line, the improvement is substantial and in the normal range. When you bring your lips together, does your chin show any mentalis strain(dimpling)?

I don't think it really dimples, it just looks like my lips are, straining to come together-- doesn't look natural.

Also, I do realize my profile looks a lot better, but after all my exposure to "perfect" chins and this surgery and such, I think in a way everyone becomes somewha tof a perfectionist after this surgery :P

So I was just wondering if there was any chance that it would emerge anymore.

Your chin really won't become more prominent. Can you post some pics, larger and clearer with your lips together from the front and side?

Zach,

I think you look great! There is a profound difference, and it is 100% for the better.

It is so hard to say what the "final product" will be, since swelling lingers for so long. However, I don't think your chin will get too much more pronounced, and to be honest I'm not sure you'd want it to.

Best wishes as you continue your recovery...Soon this will all be behind you!
