Does anyone have any home remedies for the ache associated with wearing rubber bands? I'm on day five of wearing braces and bands and my mouth constantly aches. I had four teeth extracted last Friday so I have some prescription pain killers that I have been taking but I'm afraid of the ache after I run out of them. (And my husband is not a big fan of the attitude that accompanies my pain )
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...after my 24 month sentence I'd rather not be addicted to pain killers and divorced

I've been wearing my elastics for over a week now and compared to wearing the bite plate, the elastics are a walk in the park! Now that doesn't mean that I don't suffer the dreaded aches and pains esp in my temples. My pain comes at night after wearing them all day. I just take two ibuprofen when I need it. Some days I have no pain at all. I like to think that the pain and pressure is the bands doing their job. Good luck hopefully you'll be able to find relieve soon.
Muscle relaxants! i.e. Robax type products (they come in various formulations that contain either acetaminophin, ibuprofen or aspirin so you can choose which one you prefer).
