ooowwwww one of my lower wonky ones has been so painful these past 2 days, like yesterday i bit into cereal & i screamed out in pain it was that bad!
So a whole lot of painkillers are trying to get me through that, this is probably the worst pain i've had all braces
But its only 1 tooth, & i keep thinking positive, that it only hurts cos its on the move!

& the pain has been worth it, i'm starting to see tiny gaps between teeth that just werent there before!!

Plus bigger gaps are closing, but it seems to only be me that notices these things hahaha

Only 11 days till i get my uppers, i'm excited but nervous, same as i was for my lowers, however i know these will be more obvious as theit uppers, but they're also ceramics, so it wont be too much of a problem!

Ouch about the pain! But you're right, hopefully you'll soon see some good movement out of that tooth! I know what you mean, I also seem to be the only one noticing my small changes - I guess it goes to show that people are correct when they say that other people don't notice our teeth half as much as we think they do!

I bet you're getting excited about getting your uppers on! Now that I'm definitely getting the turbo bites I'm going to ask when my lowers can go on - I'm thinking it might be sooner than the original plan since we're now getting rid of the lower retainer!

Hii Sarahlynn how have things for you been? I think i read in your story you were getting your lower retainer off? I bet you're so excited for that ;D

I am so excited for my uppers now, i just cant wait to get the ball rolling, then i get 2 weeks on holiday, so maybe the sunshine will soak away the pain from a lower adjustment and brand new uppers!
Must remember to take the painkillers

Wooo today i bought a waterpik, i'm soo excited about it [brace geek much?

I cant use to till tomorrow though, it has to charge

Hi PrincessPeach,

I too am thinking of buying a Waterpik, although the Ortho's assistant said I don't need to as I have a Sonicare toothbrush. The problem with that is when your teeth are sore and the tooth brush accidently vibrates on your teeth it hurts.

Please post and tell us how you find it... how much was it btw... about Â£30?

You'll like the water pik! I bought mine a few days before I got my braces on but didn't open it up right away. On brace day I ceremoniously took it out of the box and was excited to use it.....until I read that it had to charge for 24 hrs before use - damn!

I'm definitely a brace geek too, I was so excited when I got my sonicare toothbrush and now I have so many gadgets and appliances in my bathroom that it's a bit ridiculous!

Things are going well over here, I'm excited that this week is my 8 week mark (as of thursday) - I'll be posting new pics at the end of the week. I'm trying to not take too many pics because I want to see changes and I know there are changes since my 4 week photos.

Has your pain decreased? I was smiling when I read your last post about being excited for your uppers - you weren't excited about them in the beginning! I'm getting anxious for my lowers to go on, maybe we'll both be fully braced around the same time!

Hi Ladybird!
Wow lucky you having a sonicare toothbrush, i want one of them, hopefully a christmas present from my parents ;D

my waterpik was Â£40, i bought the ultra one.
Its certainly worth the money, i used it twice today, i dont think i've ever felt so clean! Takes abit of practice though!!!

Sarahlynn my bathrooms becoming abit the same, i've got cleaners & whiteners & different toothpastes all about the place!
Well done for getting to 2 months! bet its flown by! I cant wait to see the pictures!
i think i'm on 6 weeks in a few days, so i'm not too far behind you! I'm the same, dont wanna take too many pictures cos i wanna see big changes, plus i'm not so great at taking the pictures! However i've learnt to use my camera now

The pain comes & goes, its not too bad, some of my teeth are just sensitive to biting now, but its not always. But its good cos i cant bite my nails with it!!!! so at least i'm kicking one bad habit!

Yes i'm soo excited for my uppers now, 1 week to go!!!! Plus a week later i get to go on holdiay for 2 weeks, so at least if i'm in pain, i'm in pain on the beach!
When are you getting your lowers on? Lowers are fine, you cant even see them, so with you already having your uppers you probs find people wont notice! But either way, i cant say whether or not they hurt less or more though hahaha

Tomorrow is upper brace day!

eee i'm so excited, slightly nervous still, but very excited!
Not so worried what people will think, cos most people i'm concerned about seeing it i'm not gonna see for a long time, so i'll have some time to adjust to them

Plus, today when shopping i saw someone with the same braces as me, metal bottoms & ceramic uppers, & she was my age, i felt like going "OMG WE'RE GONNA BE BRACE TWINS!" but thought she might think i was rather odd

Plus its my first adjustment on my lowers tomorrow, i'm hoping for a thicker wire to get things moving abit faster, but i'm not sure that will be the case
Maybe if i get hinting at my ortho...

Good luck PrincessPeach! I know that all will go well for you. I'm a week behind you. I get my bottom braces on the 17th (a week from tomorrow) and my first adjustment on my top braces then as well. As least you'll know what to expect this time around. I hope it's not too painful for you.

Well i got my uppers on, no big deal really since i knew what to expect this time round
I love them! I love my ceramics, you can hardly see them at all, which makes me feel so much better, so i'll be smiling away on my holiday pictures!!!!

Plus i had my lowers adjusted, man it hurt when they were twisting the wires, but my lowers have no pain so far.
my ortho said my teeth must be awkward when i told him about how i had odd days of pain, he said people usually have the first few days in pain & then nothing

Uppers feel alot of pressure, but no pain, but i might take a painkiller to stop it getting to the pain stage!

but i'm so proud of myself, i wasnt even scared or nothing, which is such a big deal considering i was too scared to even sit in the chair only 5 months ago, now i've had extractions, braces & adjustments, so i think i deserve a present from myself

Today is finally my first day without painkillers! Theres not a great deal of pain anymore, its just the weirdest feeling, my mouth still feels huge! I just cant get used to them yet...
Lowers have been no pain at all since adjustment, apart from every morning when i wake up, the inside of my lips have changed to the shape of my braces, & then when i get lots of mouth ulcers, which arent very comfy...

Plus i cant say i've eaten a great deal since getting my uppers on, last night i was so hungry & my family got pizza hut

just rubbing food in my face while i stick with soft stuff

The only change i've seen is the tinniest gap between 2 of my top 4, but its not a gap i want, i wanted to close gaps!
My lowers seem to be doing bugger all now aswell.

& my ortho will only see me once every 8 weeks now too i think, which i feel will mean treatment time will be slower, especially as nothing seems to be doing anything anymore, and he's not changed my wires, or tightened the lower ones enough for me to feel anythings moving, i want to feel change!

anyway, enough moaning now! I'm just hoping that i start getting used to my uppers & the mouth stops feeling so huge soon!

Hey Princesspeach! I understand the "huge mouth" thing. I only have my uppers now and will get my lowers in 3 days, but my mouth definitely felt like twice its normal size when I first got braced. I would recommend eating pancakes, soft scrambled eggs are good too. if you like them. They are soft, but still good and quite filling. After starving my first few days in braces, I had to brainstorm about what I could eat to fill me up but was still soft. I hope that helps.

Thanks mlholl! I've been living off of scrambled egg, i didnt even think of pancakes! Thats such a good idea!
Good luck with getting your lowers, i didnt find my lowers that hard to get used to, but thats probably because you can hide them when you talk, so if you already have your uppers this should be a breeze!
