Getting used to this.
I'm happy to report that the past few weeks have been fairly uneventful. I'm used to the braces now, thank goodness! Every now and then I get a random jaw ache or headache, but other than that, I'm actually starting to like my braces now. First adjustment and bottoms go on August 17th!
Progress!
It's been 3 and a half weeks, and I already see progress, which I am so happy about! I can tell that my gap is getting smaller. Also one of my friends told me that my gap looked smaller. I also can see gaps starting to form in other places, which is ok. That just means I know my midline gap is closing, and the other gaps that are forming will be closed by the end of all this.
1st Adjustment
This morning was my first adjustment, and I also got my lowers put on. Overall, things were pretty uneventful. Now that I have my lowers on, I feel like my lips stick out even more. I also thought my bottom teeth were nice until I got braces on them, now I feel like they look terrible. So far I haven't had any pain, just pressure, but it's only been a few hours. I got a thicker wire on top, and I got lilac colored ligs.
First week in braces....
Today, (First adjustment, 7 weeks later)....
Sorry, I tried to take pictures of my arches but they came out way big, so I'll work on those.

Congrats on getting your lowers, I get mine in a week and a half! Those ligs look really nice too. I'm worried about my bottom lip sticking out when the lowers go on too. Even if you think your lowers look terrible, they won't for too much longer! From what I see and read here the bottoms seem to line up fairly quickly.

Thanks Sarahlynn! Getting the lowers was nothing compared to the uppers, so I'm sure you'll do fine when you get yours. So far my cheeks and lips are not even torn up either. No pain yet, just pressure.
Ladybird thank you so much! So far the treatment hasn't been that bad, and I'm hopingi t continues to move along smoothly. I hope your journey has been smooth too!

Having a Rough One!
So I'm having a rough one. At first the adjustment and the lowers didn't hurt at all, just a bit of pressure, but later on that evening they started hurting like the dickens. 2 days later they are still killing me. I've been taking Advil LiquiGels but they dont' seem to help. Tylenol doesn't help either. It's like that deep, aching pain that I can feel in my jaw bones. I just wish I could rip my braces off my teeth right now. I'm starting to wonder why I am putting myself through this torture.

Progress Pics!
I am so excited. I'm pretty sure I am starting to see some good progress here. It's been almost 2 and a half months since I got braced and I can definitely tell my midline gap is closing. What do you guys think? Here are some pics...

Thanks LadyBird! You're so inspiring. I am ecstatic with how my teeth are starting to line up. I have spent 26 years not smiling, and lately I've been smiling non-stop it's a great feeling. I still have a little over 15 months of treatment time left to go, so I can't wait to see how they will look when it's all over.
An update with pictures....
I have not updated in forever, so long in fact that I almost forgot about my profile on here, but I have now reached one year in braces, which I am very happy about. I only have about 6 more months left to go. Here are some recent pics of my progress
