Numbness after surgery

#1 Post by moswissa »

When you people refer to being numb do you actually mean you can't feel yourself being touched or a pinch. I had just surgery a week ago and I can feel my face but the numbness is my upper gums and inside my mouth.

Basically. My chin is numb, and shaving feels SO weird. My upper gums and the roof of my mouth are numb as well, and brushing my teeth there is so unsatisfying because I don't experience the "gum massage" part of brushing.

half my lower lip and chin is numb. It tingles when I touch it. My lip feels like it is always cold too. I am 6 days post op and not sure how long the feeling will last. fortunately, it doesnt bother me much. It does not make me drool which is nice. I find myself constantly touching it though.

Actually my top gums are completely numb and the muscles I use to smile as asleep I guess because I cant raise a nice smile, it feels weird when I try, so Im going to assume thats the numbness..
But as for my face I can feel everything

I had surgery in May 2008 and I still have severe numbness in my lower lip, gums and chin. I am that lucky 1% I guess.

My surgeon said numbness can be from 2 to 6 months.

I had upper (3 piece Lefort) on July 22 and genioplasty. I have numbness in my upper gum, upper lip and my nose! I'll just have to see how quickly (or not) things regenerate. I'm older, so I was told that it takes even longer.

My surgeon mentioned nothing about swelling that last more then a month, that is weird. My face was numb after surgery but west away in a few days, however my upper gums are still numb and when i talk my upper lip doesnt move as much. it looks funny!
