TOOK OUT ELASTICS AFTER SURGERY!

#1 Post by changes09 »

Long story short: I had to throw up, and felt like I could not throw up all banded shut. So I had my husband take one elastic from each side. I did end up throwing up...just a little trouble but for the most part I did good! :)
My questions is: I dont see my OS till Tuesday. That's three days away. And I dont want to bother my doc unless it's an emergency. What do you think will happen in three days.
Just to remind everyone I had a lefort one. I'm hoping since the top jaw is no mobile, I should be fine.
Advice anyone?

Bands

Your surgeon should have given you extra bands to replace ones that popped or were damaged. I suprised they didn't. Maybe you could try getting orthodontic brace rubber bands. They might sell them at Target in the toothpaste aisle.

i would just call him and ask. You will probably be fine but its better to be safe then sorry. My elastics broke off on a saturday and they were put back on the next monday. The primary function of my elastics are to train the muscles to stay in their new positions.

Call your surgeon. He'll likely want you to go into the office so he can put the elastics back in. My surgeon told me it wasn't a crisis if they came out but to call the office the next morning to replace them. I wasn't allowed to take them off and on myself untill two weeks post op (and, honestly, I don't think I would have been able to anyways).
