Hello, Gang.
I'm a newly-minted brace face, and I have a question for the forum. I have self-ligating ceramics (but don't know the brand offhand - will have to ask the ortho on Tuesday).
I've seen quite a few people advise against getting ceramic/clear braces if you love curry (which I do) because the LIGATURES can get very stained. However, I haven't heard anyone comment about the brackets themselves. Since mine are self-ligating, I'm not concerned about ties - but I wanted to know if I'm in danger of the brackets themselves becoming stained.
And on a similar/related note, has anyone started treatment with one type of bracket and changed to another type for any reason? Please share!
Thanks!

The brackets do not stain.
I have In-Ovation C's on the top arch (they are partly ceramic) and are self-ligating and they do not stain at all - and I eat curry, and drink coffee and wine. The powerchain I have, however does stain, but my ortho puts powerchains behind the wire so it's not that noticeable.

Yes I'm with Audra. I have self-ligating with ceramics on top front 6, and metal back and bottoms. I drink coffee. The brackets don't stain. The glue around them does stain and it shows more on ceramics. Powerchains in clear or lighter colors stain like ligs do, so I get grey/silver. Also my teeth stain worse in braces but it's mostly the bottom ones. I would get ceramics again because they're less noticeable especially in pictures. 11 days to my next cleaning and I sure need it!
Braced for 2 years, 11 months, 2 weeks and 5 days (the 2nd time ‘round)
