The muscles of your face are stretched. That leads to pain while smiling or laughing. It should go away after about one month.

Yes I had pain when I smiled and laughed for the first couple of weeks. It's normal.

I had pain the first week as well. The worst was when I was watching an episode of Top Gear - it's impossible not to laugh! Mine seemed to go away after the first week and a half or so, although it still feels odd to smile. Seems to be right around where the stitches would have been so thinking it's just the scar tissue.

I had my stitches taken out today, and once they were taken out i can laugh and smile with no pain. It is the stitches that hurt when you smile. Of course I can't smile as wide as I use to. I still have that pulling (not painful) feeling when I smile due to swelling. So once you get the stitches out you will smile pain free.

I to agree, that it takes about a month for that pain to disapate howerer that being said, im kinda back to that stage abit because I have a sinus/gum root infection on my left side! Thankfully it not as painful as it would have been right after surgery.

Another thing that is a pain after surgery is yawning cause it kills (sharp pain that lasts for a few seconds). I'm told though that does get better over time!!! it has gotten immensesly better already but i can kinda still feel the dull ache every once and a while
