Loose teeth???

#1 Post by cakeorbed »

So I've had my braces on for just over a week and have already noticed some movement - the thing is, some of my teeth also feel a little loose now, is that normal??? A bit freaked out by it! Can having braces actually damage your teeth? Eek!

Very normal, they have to get a bit loose to move! If you are visably seeing your teeth move too much just have your ortho take a look. Wait until they take the wire out I felt like everything was going to fall out without it!

Totally normal. The teeth must get loose to move.

Thanks guys, that's good to know. Back to ortho on Thursday to get lower brackets put on so I will bring it up with him then but a relief to know that it's normal! I had braces when I was 12/13 and can't remember noticing movement so early on but I guess I've either blocked it out or braces tech has come on quite a lot since then!! :)

Me too! I had my braces fitted last Monday and although my teeth haven't really been in any pain, i have felt like they were loose and they were quite tender if anything banged them. My son who is three gave me a big kiss and went in a little too enthususiastically and i thought my teeth would fall out
Haven't been able to chomp down on even a sandwich so have been sticking to various forms of soft potato!!!
Good luck!

Yeah, I"ve noticed some of my bottom front teeth slightly loose -- but I heard that is 'normal'.

Yeah, it's totally normal.
Sometimes you can feel a sort of clicking if you push them with your tongue which is a bit freaky...!
