Debanded!

#1 Post by mg »

19 months since full metal braces on, my OD removed them yesterday! Did not hurt a bit, just a bit of pressure. Awaiting Hawley's in very cool brown with speckels which should be in next week. I love my smile and so does everyone else. As you can imagine, I'm smiling a lot. I told no one about my debanding appointment - which was hard to keep to myself. Not even my husband. He noticed withing 30 seconds of seeing me as did my boss and coworker.

It was worth all the trouble and pain: TPA for 11 months (was imbedded in the roof of my mouth); elastics, power chains, rectangular wires and many, many adjustments - all worth it!

It feels strange but wonderful to have no metal supporting my teeth. Great luck and encouragement to all who make this journey!

Congratulations!!! You sound so happy! I can't wait to be at that point! I love that you surprised your husband and others- that must have taken major self control not to tell anyone! Congrats again!

How exciting! Congratulations!
I'm so jealous, and I haven't even started yet.

Thank you, thank you for all the great support!

Your day will come too; it really does go by fast although it does not seem to while going through the process. Don't be jealous CactusZAF. If you've made it this far your day must be coming soon. Kharmynn, I remember coming upon this website about 2 yrs ago just before getting braced and felt exactly as you do. Yup, Laura1985, it was self control but I almost blurted it out Sunday night to hubby. Glad I didn't - it was a nice surprise for him. He has been extremely supportive during this process knowing it was somewhat painful and I had difficulty eating some things we both enjoy and had bitten my tongue several times - ouch, and the TPA. He was right there for me so we had a nice hug when he saw my naked smile! Lela - we're debanding twins! Congratulations and happy smiling to you too!! Petitcanard - great luck to you! And I hope to upload pics asap! LIngulaita - thanks and yes, you'll be right there with all those naked tooths!

Thanks,
Mary

Awesome, mg! I just got mine off this morning! I feel like a million bucks. After 21mo, it did go by fast. He shaped my teeth and leveled them out. I am SO happy. Congrats to you!

Congratulations! I can't wait to see pictures!

I think keeping it a secret is a great idea! I can only imagine how hard it was to keep it a secret! I think I want to try to keep my date a secret too, when I eventually get a date that is! I'm at least a year away from it now.
