Filing doesnt hurt at all it's just the sound that's off putting and seeing the dust but no pain. I was really worried about it at the start but am so used to it now. Didnt need any more filing the last time. I@m just waiting now to get the wire fitted at the back and then i'm done and dusted ( pardon the pun ! )

The pain/pressure varies from time to time. I couldnt bite into anything for about 8 weeks but now i'm able but still cautious. I just took my brace out there to have a cup of tea and when i put it back in I could feel pressure in one of my teeth which i hadnt felt in a while but it seems ok now.

One of my teeth is longer than the other now due to wear over the years but he sayts it's going to fix that next visit by putting some composate stuff on it or something as it's visable in the pictures, so until that's done, that's when i'll be 100% sure that i'm happy with my teeth.

The people in work cant believe it, i just showed them a before picture.... I'll try an upload it. After all the meetings that i spat on them and splutted my words i'm nearly finished, I never worried about my speech in work it was more outside work to friends i was worried about talking? Weird I know....

Any feedback anyone has on the wire would be great to hear... i.e was it painful getting it put in? Are there things you cant eat like popcorn or chewing gum?

Hi all,

have had mine now for 5 weeks and last week I had to go back to do a bit of filling between my teeth so they could continue to move (as they had moved to their maximum capacity without it before). I now feel the tightness and on and off pain again, which is strangely a nice feeling!
I wear my aligner for around 21 - 22 hours a day ad I have been very disciplined. I was originally told 24 weeks for mine to move but mine are virtually straight, with about 2-3 mm left to go, and my dentist has now said she thinks it will be done in another 5 - 9 weeks time, hence shortening my wear by 10 weeks!

To those who wear it less - there is no danger in wearing it for longer than they have recommended, apparently some dentists recommend less hours as they have experienced people using it less than the actual time needed.

As my dentist said - it can't move any teeth from your handbag!

It has actually moved so much in such a short space of time that when I met a colleague who has been on paternity leave during my lunch hour he thought I had had drastic orthodontics done like veneers!
So I'm going to stick to my 21-22 hours a day as it's obviously doing me good

Fair play to you !! I was very diciplined with my brace too wearing it about 21 - 22 hours a day and i'm finished in 1 week total 11 weeks

If that's the only advice i could give someone it would be that wear it as much as you can...

Has anyone had the wire fitted at the end? or use the retainer at night. i'm wondering which is better?

Well, I've now had the IA for 2 weeks, all going pretty well. I don't really have any pain except when putting it in, but my teeth feel sensitive for a few minutes on removal, so I'm pretty sure it's doing something.

Speech is still pretty bad, but I'm getting less self conscious about it, and everyone in the work has been really good and not laughed too much!

Feels at the moment like my teeth have nowhere to move to, so looking forward to getting back to the dentist for some more filing to give them some space!

Hi everyone,
Great to find this forum, even if I've only discovered it today after getting my IA!
My teeth were all over the place as a kid and I wore a removable brace for 4 years. After all that time I never got a retainer (!) and over the last 15 years my front teeth have started regressing back to being crooked again.

Anyway it's been bothering me for a while, one ortho told me I'd need 18 months of train track braces and another quoted me â‚¬2700 for Invisalign. When I heard about Inman I was delighted that another cheaper and faster option was available.

So here I am, got the IA in today and am drooling like a crazy woman. While driving home from the dentist today I talked to myself all the way home in the car, sounds nuts but it has helped me get used to speaking with the IA in my mouth.
I'm lisping like crazy and it should be interesting when I go back to work tomorrow but I'm sure my speech will get better over time. I remember being like this when I had my first brace as a 12 year old, and I thought at the time that I'd never speak properly again, but of course my speech got better over time!

Only slight problem I'm having is that the wire at the back on the left side of my mouth is cutting into my cheek a little. I saw a post here about putting some chewing gum on it, might try that tomorrow.

I wouldn't use chewing gum as it might get stuck in the springs - I would think dental wax would be better??? Thats what they told me to use when I had metal braces years ago anyway?

It will wear off in a few days i didnt use anyting i know it's sore but your cheeks will get used to it after 2/3/ days

Hello again!! Fab day today finally got shot of my Inman aligner and am now in clear aligners for the next 8 weeks or so until my treatment is finished!

Id really like to thank everyone on here for all their posts as I learnt so much more about the IA from this forum than I ever did from my dentist!

I got the IA at the end of May and although initially the results were fast it slowed down and I now need the clear aligners to get the final bit of straightening. After so long wearing the IA these invisible aligners are amazing! Perfect speech, no protruding top lip and no drooling!

Anyway I wish you all luck on your Inman aligner journeys!

Regarding the chewing gum thing... i was told by my dentist that chewing gum is the best thing to use, but make sure it's sugar free or you'll rot your teeth!

Hi guys

Had IA in for a week now and don't think my speech is getting any better. Work as at therapist and need to talk to people all day so my confidence is shot

How long did it take for your speech to improve? Does it get much better?

Had filing done too which wasn't too bad. For some reason I thought this involved a drill - phew! Also I have achy teeth (especially offending 'tooth') but that's good! x

Practice reading out loud for a while and that will help impriove the speech more rapidly.

I was told a week as well, but found it took me two weeks to really sound a lot better and after three I barely noticed it. Keep perservering!
