I've been eating pretty much anything I want. Although I cut it up in small pieces -- and chew very carefully. I do miss being able to chew food without worrying about busting off a bracket. But the sacrafice is well worth it -- plus I think I'm loosing a bit of weight.

I've had no problem now that I'm several months in with just about anything. Celery is no biggie. What do I miss??

Popcorn and gum!!

Two things I didn't even LIKE that much before I got braces... now it's like every time someone has some I waaaaaannnt it lol.

Cashews. And the fact that football season has started and I cant eat a platter of loaded nachos just drives me insane.

I'm now at the point (thank heavens!) where I can eat pretty normally, but there are a few things I really miss:

- caramel apples
- biting into carrots and apples without having to cut them up into tiny pieces like you would for a toddler
- granola bars

I had a real pang of frustration yesterday at the grocery store, they have already put out their Halloween candy, including my (now former) favorite molasses caramel candies (you know, the ones in the waxed paper wrapping that nobody ever seems to like). I was so tempted to buy a bag, but I managed to exercise some restraint.

Snickers bars...I've probably eaten everything else on the no no list :-D
I do however, miss eating sushi and salad w/o having to worry about stuff in my teeth.

I miss biting into whole carrots. I recently broke a molar band on a chocolate chip in ice cream, so I gave up those as well (but not the ice cream!). I haven't chewed gum or eaten chewy candy in years because of other dental work (I once ripped a filling out of my mouth eating a chewy cough drop) so I don't miss any of that. I eat pretty much everything else.

I really miss corn on the cob. It's the only thing I haven't been able to eat. I'm opting out of attending the state fair this year for that very reason :-)

I've had all the other "no-no" foods without trouble (tortilla chips, nuts, popcorn etc). Happy noshing!

Pizza, burgers (fast food style), and "ice cream van stuff" for me, really miss those. Basically, food where you wouldn't normally use a knife & fork, and it's not practical to do so.

I also kinda regret having eat mush every time I get an adjustment (normally corned beef hash, which is ok but it's a shame that I don't get a choice over it).
