Whew! Gouged spot all healed up and no further issues going on. I'm thrilled. Makes dealing with the new molar bands and creaking teeth once again a no-brainer...been there, done that!

Benefits of boring silver ligs & powerchains:
1) eating curry without fear of staining
2) drinking anything with colour, without staining concerns
3) fewer children in restaurants STARING at you while you eat, commenting to their parents about the 'lady with green teeth'.
4) no early morning mirror-shocks, thinking there is STILL something stuck in there after sevenityzillion proxyregularsonicarebrushingflossings!

Hello!

Thanks for posting on my story! That Ode to a Burrito story was peaceful and calm, making me want another burrito in spite of my anguish will eating them :). I love, love, looooooooovvvvvvvveeeee your page. The humor is great! It's really nice to not have to make myself laugh in the afternoon. Then people won't think I'm as crazy!

LOL!!! Saw? Ummmmm...yeah. That is a little on the sadistic side . I would have thought of hopping out of that seat and saying "theirs now way in hades your sawing with anything in my mouth!"

It's only a thought :D

Well...Senorita Man Hands has forearms like Popeye. She did that sawing thing too, and I couldn't control my head to keep it from moving under the death grip she had on that floss. Senorita Man Hands is more similar to an ordained torturer during the Spanish Inquistion. They don't mention the process they just use the devices :gavel:.

Sad to say, the Ortho is the same... its kinda creepy actually

Commrade Sadistica talks almost just like I do when I have those lip separators in :P

Something must be moving around lately, as I am continuously catching my upper lip on the canine hooks. There is no polite way to remove a stuck lip from it's perched on metal position..trust me...I've had plenty of opportunities and there just isn't! Doc mentioned that my elastics next month, will be upper molar to lower canine...perhaps she can slightly bend back the hooks not in use, to lessen the 'lip curtain' incidences..it's either that or wax to cover them up...gawd! Do I look like a frikken candle? I feel like one, with as much wax as has gone into my mouth over the past months..with a dental floss wick to boot!

I'm sorry to hear about those hooks, I also hate them. When I left the ortho's office and checked them out in the mirror I was horrified! I'm convinced they are only there for some kind of sick torture. I have this nightmare of the ortho's assistant hooking up a car battery to them or something sick like that. I read your burrito story again, it made me laugh...and then cringe as those nasty hooks dug into my cheeks!

Gorgeous weather today, so I took out the car, put the roof down and drove out to the beaches..delightful! Even stopped at a seafood shack for a snack...and realized 'no toothbrush..utoh!'. Low and behold, my fella had stuck a pack of the Colgate Wisp brushes in my bad and I gotta tell ya...BIG FAN!! The pick end was curved enough to get between/under the wires and the hard bristles cleaned out all the hidden bits of delicious seafood. Might be the last day of 'convertible' weather, but I returned home totally wind-blown, sun-kissed, and with a fresh clean mouth!!

And just that fast, clouds, threat of rain, and 20 degrees colder...with no end in sight. Ah well, Indian Summer was fleeting at best.
Trying to decide if I am looking forward to my next adjustment in a week and change, or not. The monstrousities that are elastics will be weedling into my mouth for, most likely, the rest of my orthodontic journey..will be placed...waaa! Yet more bite wonkiness, yet more midline disruption, and most of all, yet more pain that won't leave no matter what I throw at it...waa x2! Maybe they will have some wild coloured elastics ..that would make it somewhat fun.

For some bizarre reason, each and every hook in my mouth decided to catch/rip/tear/shred my inner cheeks this weekend. OMG! Just when I thought one was torturing me enough, another would dig in and have it's share of the cheek. Again and again, until I covered every offending bit of demonic bobbed metal with a glob of wax. This was more wax that I'd used my entire treatment thus far!!! I can't even imagine adding elastics to this jacked up situation in a week.

Adjustment this morning was JUST a smidgen odd..where to begin? As I am waiting in the chair for the doc, someone taps on the *outside* of the 2nd story window..why, hello Mr WindowCleaner. The tech gal comes in, and promptly uses the hook for removing ligs, to not-so-gracefully slide under my gumline..OMG..pay frikken attention to what you are doing chickadee!!!! A trickle of blood later, the doc arrives with the usual 'bite down, open, bite down, open' routine, and then YANKS out my top wire. <too much sugar from Halloween maybe??> She puts in the same gauge 16x22, but now it is stainless steel, instead of NiTi...translated = Ow! While shoving the ends into the molar bands, obviously Mr WindowCleaner has caught her eye, as she traps my upper lip between the wire and the brackets...hello? I'm down here!! Clip here, clip there, twist twist Twist TWIST the wire tie across all four top incisors, tweek the same ol bottom wire in the back, and poof...done. I questioned about the missing elastics I was told would be beginning today and apparently the month old molarbands still need to work some more before those can be started. Was all geared up to deal with stupid elastics and they're on hold. Go stainless steel Go!

stainless steel is working overtime, and keeping me awake...OW!!! Not to mention the wire-tied top incisors..all four of them...are really sore. Now, the two were wire tied before for several months and the others were mini power-chainletted as well..so why they are complaining now..I have no idea! Any pressure on the front, or the molars, is fresh agony. I know it will get better..having a bit of a late night whine about it. Ok, done now.

Much better discomfort-wise. The deadened feeling in the front from the wire ties, has passed and I actually *bit* into a slice of pear the other day. I couldn't believe it! Another food discovery: you can enjoy TootsieRoll, by just sucking it until it melts away. Who knew?!? The molars are still uncomfy when I chew something really tough, but that I suppose it to be expected. Now it's the tick-tocking until the next adjustment at the end of the month, and depending on progress...elastics!
