I am having surgery on my leg under anaesthetic next week and I am wondering whether I need to take my invisalign trays out while I'm under anaesthetic?
Could be a few hours, which would mess up the wear your trays 22 hours a day thing.
But the instructions for surgery say remove dentures etc.
Could the trays be a choking hazard? they seem pretty well stuck down, with my attachments and all!
Anyone with experience on this?
Started invisalign 16th July 2009. Finish March 2010. I have ten attacments: 4 upper and 6 lower.
Definitely take them out. Sometimes crowns and things get knocked out under surgery, you definitely shouldn't wear them. Just put them back in when you are fully recovered from the anaesthetic. One day won't hurt. If you are worried ask your Invisalign dentist
I would take them out. In the grand scheme of things, a few extra hours out on one day isn't going to hurt much as long as you wear them for the time you are supposed to the other days in your 2 or 3 week cycle of that tray.
Good luck!

Guess I will have to take them out then. Can't believe the one time I will be 'bad' and have them out will be for something as boring as surgery, not even a social event or something!

sorry for the late reply... but absolutely remove them! Because you are undergoing general anesthetic you will be unable to manage your airway, when they are intubating or placing an LMA they could knock the retainer loose and cause an airway obstruction.
