Discolored Tooth

#1 Post by chchambe316 »

I had upper and lower jaw surgery plus 3 wisdom teeth removed on August 12th. I'm starting to notice my canine tooth is turning a greyish color and I'm very concerned that it's dying  I had my ortho appointment today and I ask the Doctor but he's unsure? He will do the test in a couple of weeks if it gets darker. I also had the chlorohexidine mouth wash that causes staining but I'm not convinced that this is the problem.
Has anybody else had problems with this and it wasn't from the tooth dying?
Thanks

Chrissy, have you taken any antibiotics?
I believe that certain types of antibiotics can cause teeth to turn gray.

I had my upper and lower jaw surgery done 2 weeks ago and at my last visit to the surgeon they commented on one of my front teeth being discoloured. They described it as "blushing" and it is due to bleeding into the tooth forming a hematoma. This may or may not resolve, I just have to wait and see. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this?
