Yay for Trish! You're on the journey now, you wont regret it!
The best thing is after a few days, your teeth start to click, you know they're on the move then!!!
Eating does get easier, i've learnt how to actually bite & sandwhich & not get much stuck in anymore, even though i still do [try] to rush off to the bathroom afterwards to double check, i carry a mirror & tooth pik with me EVERYWHERE.
Lower Braces = 22nd June 09 - 2nd Sept 10 (14 months, 1 week & 4 days)
Upper braces = 10th August 09 - 2nd Sept 10 (12 months, 3 weeks & 2 days)

Hey guys..thanks for all the support...

day 3 or 4 whatever i'm on now. I still don't have much pain. Mostly my cheeks feel like raw meat, but I bought peroxdyl and that has helped. EAting is still a pain, but I'm snacking less, so maybe those 10 lbs will come off! haha! I can feel my teeth slightly moving, but honestly this is so different from when i was a teen, I am just shocked. My neighbors who all had braces when they were younger as well, all were remembering their pain from all the braces. I think new technology is awesome.

My ortho called to check on me last night. I thought that was nice, except she could hear the temper tantrum from one twin in the back ground. Oh well...she has kids too! I'm counting down to my next adjustment, but it isn't until Dec. I told my ortho last night i was ready already, and she laughed.

have a great day! :D

Hey Trish, Hope your mouth is slowly adjusting to all that new hardware and the "raw meat" is disappearing. Perhaps you don't have much pain because your allignment is already very good and there is no need for the wire to move teeth around too much. Anyway - good for you!!
I fully share your concerns with eating - yes, it is a pain! But it can only get better, plus you will likely be out of braces soon - what's your sentence?
Keeping my fingers crossed for the weight loss - that would be a nice bonus for all this pain and inconvenience

Hi Trish,

You are flying it, I'm so happy for you. Ya the snacking has stopped for me too, just doing my main meals, oh how I miss snacking

I think it is great your ortho called to check up on you, now that's service. My next adjustment isn't until December either and I am so excited.

It's great you and your braces are doing good :)

Bye for now

Hey pretty woman and emms...today i'm feeling pressure in the lower back arch of my mouth. Also the upper front is feeling a lot of pressure also. My arches are too narrow and so that is partially why I am doing this. I think you're correct pretty woman. i don't have too much pain because I think this portion of the 'treatment' is just to get everything slightly moving and aligned. And since my teeth were pretty much aligned, there isn't too much movement. Definitely can feel new places of touching, so the arches must be moving out...

nine more weeks until my adjustment. I can't wait to see what will happen. i hope you guys are feeling good!

okay it has been almost a week and half and I'm seeing that the teeth on my lower arch that were slightly out of alignment are now more out of alignment. AND I've been staring at my midline some and it is slightly off...

I guess I'm going to be worse before I"m better......

Gums have healed, but my back lower right molar tube keeps getting caught on my gum and I'm chewing on it. I've been putting wax on it, but it is driving me nuts.

okay, i've vented. seriously waiting in anticipation of my adjustment to get going!!!!!!!! 8)

Congrats on surviving the first couple weeks! Are your cheeks feeling better? Hopefully that's settled down now, although that one molar tube doesn't sound like much fun!!!

Hey guys,
almost a 1 mo. brace-a-versary for me...I am definitely a case of worse before better. i now have a slight overbite. It isn't noticable, but I notice it becasue I can't grasp and chew anything with my front teeth like I used to. Maybe it is supposed to be that way--ie your top teeth don't rest close to your bottom teeth. Who knows. I also think that the left side of my bite is hitting correctly, but now my right side has more of an open bite and I can't close all the way. Again, if I showed you pictures, you wouldn't see it, but it is noticable to me when I try and eat.

Gums have healed for the most part. Still have problems with the right back molars, but they don't touch together in the back either.

Thanks for all the questions...Sorry i haven't posted in awhile...got sick and crazy busy with work!

Hope you all had a great halloween...amazing what candy I could still pilfer from my kids despite being braced up!

trish

ps. i'll post pictures soon. just crazy busy. 6 more weeks until my 1st adjustment!

Hi Trish, yes you and me both are nearing our one month brace a versary, can you believe it!!! I think the time has flown by. I was so bummed I couldn't tuck into all the jellies that my kids came home with after trick or treating, the chocolate goes down nicely though

I too have an overbite, I haven't been able to chew with my front teeth since the braces went on. Have you been told you are getting elastics at all?

Hey Emms...
I was told elastics were in my future, but I don't know when. I hope next time. I'm honestly feeling frustrated already because I want to move faster. I am sure they know what they are doing, but want some serious moving to happen!

I have to go to your 'story' because i tried to post earlier, but my computer is being flaky today!

hope all is well!

Okay, really upset...just found one of my wires is OUT of the back tube on the upper right back molar...don't know how long that has been out, now i'm mad. I called and they don't have anything available today, so I have to wait until monday. argh!

AND my first adjustment is a week after next monday...man, hope they give me new stuff then!

:x :(

went yesterday to get my wire put back in my molar tube. The tech had to put some glue on my wire to get it to stop moving. She said that when i get my next wire it won't have as much 'play' in it so it won't slide around as much. I think htis is why it came out of the back. I was immediately more comfortable because the left side wire was not poking me any more. YEAH! I've still not had much pain with this particular wire, either. We'll see what happens at my first adjustment next monday...now i'm getting nervous! :)
