Cheapest braces in the UK?

#1 Post by Hunterlaar »

I live in the north west of England and i'v been ringing around various orthodontists to see what they charge for ceramic braces, the cheapest quote i got was £2800 for upper and lower. Is there any places that people know of where they will do them for cheaper? Thanks.

I can't help with prices, but some people go for ceramics just on the top, and metal on the bottom. That would cut some of the cost, at least.

Im in Scunthorpe (Lincolnshire) and I got upper and Lower metals for £2000 :)

So could be worth shopping around a little even?

I live in the south west and was quoted £4200 for damons, which I did not opt for, and then £2800 for ceramics through the private wing of my local NHS hospital.
I doubt you'll get much cheaper than you've been quoted.

Hi,

Rather than searching for the absolute cheapest practice, please remember to factor in the intangibles such as the reputation of the orthodontist, previous work they have done, dentist recommendations, distance from work/home, opening hours etc.

You could end up paying far more in the long run if your decision is solely based on cost.

Hope you find a suitable ortho soon.

Looks for regular metal. There cheaper and IMO ceramic don't look any better than them. People are gonna notice them either way so just make i clear that they are there so its done and over with and people aren't staring at your mouth wondering whats all over your teeth.

£2800 sounds about right to me for full ceramics (I'm in the West Midlands). And, although I've got full ceramics on, I'd agree with dblaney about them ... they've helped me from a psychological way of coping with them but you can still tell that I've got a full set of braces on!!
