Inman aligners

Hi, just had my IA fitted today. Are there any new users on here? I'm having trouble with my speech but i'm working on it. Also, my dentist didn't file any of my teeth beforehand as mentioned on this discussion board...is this not always necessary?
Any IA users that have completed treatment - would love to hear from you!
Hope the next 12 weeks goes fast!
Thanks

Just got mine fitted today.
At first I thought it was fine, no pain or anything.
6 hours later the numb/ache feeling is here! I suppose it's good as it means it's working.
The hardest part is taking it off to eat. Ouch that hurts. Takes a while for the teeth to settle.
Well actually, work on Monday will be the hardest part.
I've got it on my lower arch. 3 months of this, then 3 months of an upper arch. Speech is ok but I'm told it will get a lot worse with the upper. I'm kinda dreading that.
I also asked for permanent retainers - I can have them for the bottom but they're not sure about the top because the top of my bottom teech will be in the way

Hi Chezdon,
I had the same situation, it really ached when i had to put the retainer back in...but your right it shows it's working.
My retainer is on my upper arch and speech is pretty bad, everyone thinks i have a sweet in my mouth...but you do get used to it and avoid words with S in.
How did it go wearing it to work?
I had a look at some before and after pictures which are good motivation for us beginners

After the treatment one tooth was longer than the other so I have had some shaping done. I intend to have more shaping done in a few weeks once I have decided how much more to take off!

Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I have had the THIS COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE REPORT TO ADMINISTRATOR. inman aligner in since May and although a great improvement has been made, it is taking alot longer than I expected.
I find it really hard to wear at work due to the fact I cannot close my lips with it in. After looking at pictures of people wearing theirs, my front clear panel seems so much bigger.
Has anyone else found this? or know if the size can vary? Im sure if it wasnt as noticable I could wear it for more hours.

Thanks Li i guess everyones teeth move at a different rate. Perhaps your dentist needs to adjust/tighten your IA.
Janie thanks for posting the pictures. The aligner worked really well for you! your teeth look great. How long did you wear your retainer per day?
Desmond - I have a THIS COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE REPORT TO ADMINISTRATOR. also and it does feel quite bulky but i can close my mouth. I'm not sure if it varies in size, you would probably need to check with your dentist. During initial consultation the dentist usually predicts how long it would take and how severe the case is. If you have seen great improvement already, then there is probably not long left for you. Good luck with your treatment.

It went ok. I wore it on the journey in and decided just to leave it in as I got to my desk. People noticed straight away - they thought I had food in my mouth! A few people still don't know but I'm totally comfortable with it now. Like I said though, the upper arch will be the challenge.autumn09 wrote:Hi Chezdon,

It is frustrating trying to talk on the phone but I'm getting by.
I've been wearing it 20 hours a day and can already feel big changes. My bottom teeth are being pushed back already, so hopefully it'll be quicker than the 3 months first anticipated.
Seems this threads died a death or everyone's completed their procedure!
I'm 5 days into it now and it feels fine in my mouth. Speech still isn't great (mostly s's).
Would be interesting to hear what hours you guys wear it for.
Here's how my days seem to be going:
Midnight - 07.00 = 7 hours
07.15 - 11.15 = 4 hours
11.30 - 14.00 = 2.5 hours
17.00 - 19.00 = 2 hours
19.30 - Midnight = 4.5 hours
20 hours total which seems ideal to me. Already seen massive movement in just 5 days so it's going well. A bit worried that it needs tightening already but I'm not seeing the dentist again for another 3 weeks!
Weekend looks a bit different but still getting the 20 hours.

just wondered if i could get a bit of advice! i've been wearing the inman for a month or so now, went to the dentist today where he added two of those composite bond thingys to the back of two teeth so there's more pressure but half of one of them has just fallen off :-S
i'm either thinking it doesnt matter as it'l still work hopefully? or do i have to go back...
thanks!
