Getting Invisalign on Monday!!!

33 yr old male getting my first trays (top only) on monday. Im excited and nervous at the same time. The consensus from the forum seems to be that they take a while to get used to so hopefully i can take strength from other people on the forum. I have been told by the dentist that its 10 months to a year before completion which is better than I hoped.

Just have a few questions?

- What to people do on a night out when they will be drinking beer etc?
- Is it possible to eat anything while the trays are in?
- Whats the story with drinking coffee with trays on?

I have been reading this forum for a couple of yrs and its only recently that i had the courage and money to go ahead and do it. Reading peoples experiences has helped a lot in deciding to take the plunge and also having support from people in a similar situation.

I haven't had a night out drinking with them in, but I have seen others post that they do and just make sure you rinse with water now and then while out so they don't get too gross - and give a good cleaning when you get home.

I don't eat anything with mine in, but others on here do and hopefully will have more info on them.

I have and still sometimes do drink coffee with them in - warm, not hot. It all depends on if I'm just having coffee or if I'm drinking it with breakfast, etc. I haven't noticed any appreciable staining. I just make sure I clean them well and I also soak mine in Efferdent (or similar product) every few nights and I think that probably helps as well. Others here do the same and have not noticed staining issues with proper or extra cleaning measures.

I always wore my aligners when on a night out - I stuck to lager or white wine to avoid staining the aligners. I think it's ok if you are only doing it 1 or 2 nights per aligner. I did stretch to a few ocean etc when on vacation, with plenty of swishing with water in between!

I tried drinking tea with mine in (luke warm) but found it stained them a bit - but nothing a good soak in Steradent didnt cure.

hi, I drink coffee , white wine, beer with the trays in but rinse them out afterwards. I eat yogurt with them in but anything else is impossible, you will find that out soon.

Hi, I drink white wine and gin & tonic when I'm on a night out with my braces! I also make sure I rinse with water while I'm out and give them a good clean when I get in. I have to say that my mouth did feel pretty disgusting the next morning but another good clean did the job. I'm currently on aligner 3 of 26 and have so far found them easy to get used to, hopefully you will to! Hope everything goes well for you and good luck!

I drink every weekend. I periodically rinse (and even brush sometimes). I also drink coffee with them every day, but straight black no sugar. It makes them a little yellow, mostly in the back, but it doesn't change the appearance of my teeth. After a hard brush, they come clear enough anyway. You're exposing your teeth to more sugar than normal, so I do fluoride almost every day.
