Plez look at my pics and give me advice
I am 24 yrs old female. I have a class 2 malcclusions. I have a potruding upper jaw and teeth. I also have overcrowding on top and moderate overcrowding in the bottom. I may also have a very short lower jaw. I visted 4 orthos and this is what they said
1st ortho
- extract 2 upper and 2 lower bicuspids. Wearing metal or ceramic braces with forsus springs for 2 or 2 and half year. I dont think forsus spring can bring the lower jaw forward in an adult. so I did not like the idea of extracting 4 teeth
2nd ortho
Only Jaw surgery is the solution. Nope did not like it at all.
3rd ortho
Extract 2 upper bicuspids wear linguals on top and ceramic braces in the bottom. I like this idea because it involves less teeth extraction. But i am litle concerned because i have a deep overbite (upper teeth covers the lower teeth), so as my overjet ( upper teeth portudes) is being treated it might hit the lower ceramic braces in the bottom. the cost was $9800. if i went both upper and lower linguals it was about $12000 for the treatment.
4th ortho
Extract 2 upper bicuspids and pretty much same as the 3rd ortho. The only difference was that the 3rd ortho was confident and expensive. the treatment with this ortho for both upper and lower linguals is only about $8000, but confident orthos is what i need.
So i have posted my pics and plez give me advice about which ortho should i choose or what do u think i might expect form the treatment. I have read some horro stories about extraction. I am worried and reluctant, but I do want to get my teeth fixed. Helpppp!!!
I cant post pics , will someone teach me how to post pics

Braces
Hi
regarding braces and your overjet I had a similar problem
although my overjet according to orthodontist is a straight
malocclusion and I wouldnt consider it to be a very bad bite comparing
it to many other peoples crooked teeth and misaligned jaws I see every day!
I was also given option of jaw surgery to bring lower jaw forward
buit I also declined as I believe I could achieve a good result by braces alone (as a previous orthodontist appeared to suggest)and didnt
think my jaws werent too out of line
After indicating this to orthodontist he changed his surgical recommendation to a braces only plan
I now have had Damon Qs on lower and I braces on uppers for a week
I am expecting a minimum of 15 months treatment and despite soreness
discomfort eating and slight lisp hope to get there with a great result
Braces have come along way and although cannot really cure
a skeletal discrepancy(as compared to a dental maloclusion) they can possibly achieve a good compromise
result in the hands of a skilled, competent orthodontist
Obviously every case is different as yours might be to mine despite some similarity....most important is to understand what your expectations are and also what limitations there are if you opt for braces only ...I presume you have discussed this with all the orthodontists
you have visited yet...you might want to see an oral surgeon for another
opinion if not sure
good luck!

I had both an overjet and overbite (however, both of my jaws were in their correct positions), and what my ortho did was put a composite material on my molars that prevented me from biting my bottom brackets off. Those stayed on until she could do many different things to my teeth to get them where they needed to be. I personally would go back to ortho 3 or 4 and bring up surgery and have them double check things just to make sure you do not need it. It is scary when one person in a field says one thing and another says another. Which do you believe? Go with what you gut says. Which one do you feel comfortable with?
What did orthos 3 and 4 say about your "protruding upper jaw and teeth." Did they say that by pulling teeth they could fix that?

Thanks for your resposes
Mrjohn46: How does Damon Q braces look like. When you said IBRACES, did u mean lingual braces.
Sdawdy: I know i have been to 4 orthos and I am already confused.
Ortho 3 said that with extraction he could lower my overjet. But when I asked by approx by how much percent reduction would I achieve. He said I am not sure rght now, I cant tell. He said that i could get a jaw suregery done, but I dont think I will ever do it. My overjet is about 5mm.
Ortho 4 sounded very confident and said that he would get my overjet by 100%. In return, I asked him that since I have misaligned jaw, I would still have a overjet. But he was so firm that he even said that if I was his sister, he would recommend me the braces. I think he can achieve a good camoflouage result. But he is expensive. $12000 linguals top and bottom. $9800 for lingual on top and ceramic on the bottom. He said that he taought at universitites, which helps him keep update with the latest technology and all that stuff.
The funny part is that i did try to ind some internet reviews for this orthos. I could not find reviews for any of the ortho, except the Ortho4 (EXPENSIVE ONE). He had 17 reviews which is great compared to none for others. But i dont know, it might have been his office staff writing those reviews.

about IBraces and damon Q
Hi Braces scared
Ibraces are a newer type of lingual braces...they are made with help of a computer and fully customized so sit well behind your teeth
apart from a small lisp and some minor discomfort eating they
have so far been Ok although a bracket came loose a few days ago and
I needed it to be tightened again
The Damon Q s on the bottom feel like almost a mirror image of Ibrace although they use a different system (self litigating brackets)
They are fine although they do cut into the lips and cheeks a little
Thye are metal but quite small and due to my overjet almost invisible(like
the Ibraces on uppers)
Its interesting using two different systems which are probably two of the most well known and marketed sytems today..but Ibraces cost quite a bit more money
Looking at your pics again its seems a bit similar to me although its
hard to say how close,,,,,Damon markets as being able to help prevent
jaw surgeries in many cases...see if you can contact Ormco(company)
and see if a knowledgeable sales rep might know a good ortho who
could review your case?
I chose the non surgical path for probably similar reasons to you ...but make sure you look at all options including my earlier suggestion
about seeing a reputable oral surgeon for an honest opinon regarding
surgery/braces vs braces only
anyway dont be afraid to keep asking qusetions or getting another professional opinion
