Post Consulation

#1 Post by Angela0306 »

Finally taking the leap into braces after not having them when I was younger. I'm 23 and was quoted around $6800 for upper linguals and regular metal lowers with NO extractions( 2 thumbs up ). I have a narrow arch on both the upper and lower, moderate crowding in the upper and lower, and a fairly large overbite and he said we'll try it without extractions because linguals actually do better at widening the arch than traditional metal braces. Anyone ever heard that? I was surprised when he told me that. Treatment time is 18-24 mos. I'm in the Orlando, FL area and from what I've heard/read, it is a really good deal. I was quoted $6100 for regular metal brackets for upper and lower at a different ortho who didn't do linguals ( I was sent there by my dentist ). That ortho told me he wanted 4 extractions and about 3 years of treatment. No thank you!

So anyone else in the Central Florida area?

The probable reason that it was mentioned that lingual braces are better at expanding is that they push from the inside just the way that expanders do. I dont see a significant difference in 'expansion' from labial to lingual braces. I do both.
