dry mouth at night post op?
I've been struggling with this since the first night in the hospital. I just searched the forum and didn't come up with much. Is this common post-op, and if this happened to you, when did it resolve?
Recovering from Lefort 1 (5.5 mm impaction) with genio (6 mm) 1/20/10
same here and I am almost 3 months postop! I now know what they call "cottonmouth" it's horrible. I found that when I sleep on my back my mouth falls open and then I wake up with my mouth bone dry. This never happened before, my husband teases me and tells me that's because my lower jaw is heavier now. For some reason I have trouble keeping it closed when laying on my back.
I had BSSO. This actually started recently since I stopped using the bands. Nothing holding my mouth closed I guess. If I sleep on my side it doesn't happen, but then my jaw hurst after sleeping on my side I wax so that way the lips get stuck on the wax and not my teeth because I was getting cuts all over from the braces.
Early early days for me and i nap quite alot but i feel so dry wen i wake up my whole mouth feels dry not so much my nose but that had been blocked for days which is now slowly clearing. It takes me a while to get to feeling "normal" again nearly puts me off napping lol but I cant help it I guess its just part of this road we are on xxx

this is perfectly normal and it will resolve over time could take up to a few months just depends on what surgery you've had. Just make sure to drink plenty of fluids and keep a cool mist humidifier going in your room. as well using a cold washcloth seemed to help me (just lay it on your neck) as crazy as that sounds it actually help to keep things moist in there better. hope you get better soon!!!
its all part of the recovery and healing process though so no worries:)
