Do you have to be awake or can you get twilight sleep? Do they say that they are all going to come out easily?
I could only be numbed because that was all my insurance would cover. It was pretty rough and not at all like when I've had to get my teeth worked on. It's a Loooooot of shots in a short period of time. He actually used a machine and it felt like he was just kind of stabbing away in there. But I was numb and three of the four teeth came out easily.

try taking pictures of your teeth through various steps of the process. You may be surprised to know that perhaps your teeth have moved (if they have slighly
Why do you have to be awake during the wisdom teeth? can't say for sure if it would hurt or not. I've had an extraction (1 molar) taken out a few years ago via local anesthetic but the tooth was dead (thanks to a bad root cannelle treatment done by my old dentist who I don't see anymore) so I can't say for sure if I could give an accurate answer. I can say that if you can get twilight sleep then do that because you don't want to hear the noises and such. Its not very pleasant sounding that is for sure.

I try to take pics every month.
It's amazing how much movement there is that I don't notice.
I was just feeling kind of down that my lowers seem to have stopped moving for a few months, but when I compared the pictures, I realized that a lot had changed, it was just at angles that were really hard to see in a mirror.
As for wisdom teeth, bring an mp3 player and just zone out. It won't hurt, it will just feel like a lot of pressure. It's best to just keep yourself distracted.

I had my wisdom teeth out with just local anesthetic (and they apparently came out easily) and while it didn't hurt, it was a bit weird because there was a lot of pressure and strange sounds. The surgeon explained to me beforehand that I would feel a lot of pressure, so I think that helped to keep me relaxed. One of my wisdom teeth was severely abscessed and the anesthetic didn't really help with that tooth (but it had been in severe pain anyway, so the extraction probably didn't make things much worse), but the other three extractions were fine.
awake
I was awake for my wisdom teeth operation. I was to cheap to spend the 300 extra to be put out. I had 3 removed and one was impacted and they had to break bone. It was fine. the whole procedure took like a half hour. The dentist was really nice and told me what sounds i would hear and the pressure and stuff. It was fine. I think the pain after the extractions was worse than the procedure itself.
