60cc syringe wrestling match

#1 Post by traintraxx »

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has been having problems using the 60cc syringe to "eat." After a few days mine get so hard to pull that they become unusable. It seems that something happens to the black rubber stopper. Anyone else experiencing this or have any solutions?

Also wondering how long it took to regain the ability to drink from a cup. I'm nine days post op and still end up wearing whatever I try to drink. Can't move my swollen lips enough to use a sippy cup either.

Thanks!!

Can't help with the syringe question, but in terms of drinking, I used polystyrene cups all the time. Either that or try and use a cup that has a narrow rim (or rather, that doesn't have a thick rim, because that's th problem!). I don't know why the polystyrene cups worked better, but they did :)

I cut a bigger hole but ended up using a baby medicine syringe with no rubber stopper.

My struggles with the syringe have pushed my recovery to a new level... I can now drink from a cup. Victory is mine!!

Glad to see that you have progressed to drinking with a cup - Well done.

To offer my solution in case someone else has a similar problem - The black part of my childrens medicine syringes don't work properly if you wash them in water that is too hot.
