Oh Sonics. Reminds me when i went to Arkansas and ate my first Sonic burger.Yum yum burgers.

I cant believe the extractions are finally over! Hopefully its all smooth sailing from this point on. It seems like just yesterday you were introducing yourself. Time flies- I hope those holes close quickly. I cringed when i heard about the carrot getting stuck up there. ouch.

Cant wait for pics!

Hello!!!

#122 Post by HeyBuckey! »

Alibracket! Hello and welcome :).

I really enjoyed that burger too! I don't seem to do very well on liquid/soft food diets at all. The burger was as soft as it got this weekend :(.

I do have to admit, even though I got chips and Cinnamon Toast Crunch jammed into my extraction holes, the soft carrot hurt the worst. I had only had the new wounds for a little over 24 hours and they were still extremely tender. Other than that, everything is smooth sailing! You are right. I can't believe it's been 4.5 months since I got braces when I look at my old pics I can't believe how much better my teeth look today than they did when I started out. I don't even recall what it felt like before I got braces. What's sad is I was convinced that my teeth didn't look that bad. Talk about being in denile!

Anywho!
I'll take a shot at posting my toothless grin pics later on this evening!

Until next time!!!

Hey guys (and gals :)) Do you wanna see my extraction holes? Well, even if you don't here they are!!!

I saw my yellow bicuspids and thought how horrible of a job I'm doing at flossing! I need one of those Butler floss brushes. A waterpik sounds great but learning something new would really do me in right now...:?

On my next adjustment I'll show you all how the holes have healed since being yanked out of my face

That's it for today!!!

:( I was booted to the second page.

But I'm back on top now!!! :).

Here are my pics from my last adjustment! Sorry for the delay I was and still am having some issues with my web album but I found a loop hole! School is also in session and I am running on very little fuel. I need an IV that's loaded with caffeine. Straight, no saline included. Coffee just makes me want to nap so that is my only option :P. Anywho!!! Check this out!

Image

The very pretty front view (now the right is longer than the left...yay )

Image

Left side. Check out those lumpy extraction gaps. Those oughta be fun to close :).

Image

Right side. This is not very good lighting. I'm sorry in advance if it's hard to see.

Image

Aaaaaahhhhhh!!! Another bite pic. Soon! That will change!

Image

Mmmmm...Extraction holes...One of them looks like I had just indulged in a cracker . I should've did a search before taking this pic...

What I'm going to show you is semi amazing. These are before and after of my forgotten bottom row.

Before:

After:

Lookin good! More than anything I could definitely tell right after my appointment that my arch was widening. The dog gone wire is ridiculously thick and hurt pretty bad. Never the less I managed to eat a crunchy granola bar when I got to class.

Happy 5th month to my upper row! Hopefully I remember to wish myself a happy bracerversary when the year comes by. Knowing myself I probably won't

That's all I have today ladies and gents! Happy brushing!!!

Nightmare on Metal Street?

I had a dream the other night, I bit into something and my bottom right 2nd bicuspid began to crumble. I had chunks of tooth everywhere. To make it worse along with the chunks of tooth, my first molar on the same side wiggled and came on out by itself.

Talk about Going Rogue...

I woke up in a cold sweat making sure everything was intact...

Tell us some of your teeth dreams (or nightmares)!!!

OMG. I have probably dreamt a dozen or more times that I go to talk in front of a huge crowd, and my teeth just crumble out of my mouth like crackers! Waaaah! I HATE those dreams!

Ooohh! Now that is scary tori*anne. To make it worse you were in front of a crowd of all places.

What's up with these strange teeth dreams anyway? I know it's a dream but a logical explanation would do me good :). I don't recall my teeth crumbling (like crackers :)) or wiggling out before I got my bling.

That one takes the cake! Anyone have one that's their first nightmare, one that's baffling, or equally scary? If so...please share I encourage you too ;)

I'm off to check out tori*anne's thread now! Note to self, in 2010 I gotta support those who support Good Ol' Buckey!

~Ciao~

Pointless Post

Here's a just because moment from Heybuckey...

After examining the person next you's teeth, you ever feel like striking up a conversation JUST BECAUSE you want to tell them they are in dire need of braces?

After examining the person in front you's teeth you ever feel like continuously staring inspite of the uncomfortable look they have on their face JUST BECAUSE you know they can benefit from braces but seem to be in denile?

A day in the life of Buckey is very eventful. Might I add entertaining

Oh yeah! I got a camera. I felt like saying that JUST BECAUSE I feel technically challenged and can't work it, and I now want to take a picture with any and everybody who's sporting the metal goods.

Hello All!!!

Today is the big day my Ortho's office will begin to turn Buckey into...uh...uh...something else :?. I should probably pick out a name for myself post treatment :D

Maybe it'll be HeyBabe!

Right...That'll be the day.

Anywho, bring on the torture devices!!! I'm to understand, the devices being used on my teeth will shreadeth my jaw ;).

They didn't say those words EXACTLY but I know how to read between the lines, especially when they tell me to take ibpruofen half an hour before my appointment in spite of my high tolerance for pain...

I got a new camera so hopefully it'll work better to get my teeth pics up and running. YAY!!! I don't have to use my temperamental phone and cheesy web album that I can't access from my laptop! Now, if only I could figure out how to make the zoom button work without the pic getting all blurry on me :x. I can be so technically declined sometimes

See you all post appointment!

Welcome Back!

#131 Post by HeyBuckey! »

Hey, hey Alibracket!

The one thing that feels different is my lowers are definitely a little wider which I'll show in the pics I post later on tonight. Other than that, Buckey, is still buckey.... Yup the toofs haven't moved neither forward or back. I still have a problem with jutting my lower jaw forward which can cause trouble, but it's a habit I've been doing for about 3-4 years thinking that would solve my bad teeth problems. Boy was I wrong!

Like I said on your post, some puppy eyes, maybe a tear or two oughta do the trick for your Ortho who disappears like Houdini for months at a time. Make him feel bad for neglecting your fragile teeth :(.

Trust...you wouldn't want my Orthos (yes it's plural). I go in the office every visit wondering...who's gonna put their fingers in my mouth today? Ever since the Camel Cowboy's disappearance (not literally, but literally :)) I have seen about 4 different Ortho's.

But if you can handle the life of Buckey...I say give it a shot :).

Adventures In Metal!!!

#132 Post by HeyBuckey! »

Here goes another long post...

I have one thing to say...Oooooouuuuuuuuuuccccccccccchhhhhhhhh!!!!

My pain tolerance is still pretty high, but that doesn't make this feel any better!

A recap of yesterday's adventure:

I showed up about ummmmm roughly 2 hours and 15 minutes before I was scheduled. I let them know I'd arrive early ahead of time. I sat down and recognized I forgot to turn in my homework assignment and tried to find a method that would get it turned in on time, until the Tech called my name and BEHOLD! We were both wearing red and black (I had on gray pants but that's besides the point.) So I point out our color choice similarity for the day and grab all 20 of my things, (backpack with books, laptop and charger, items for cold weather just in case; coat ; jacket [Hey! It's cold when I leave for work.]; purse; and yours truly :)) get to the area where they will induce torture on me and place all 20 of my things down.

I pick out my ligs and wait for the doc. What does he do? He says "Oh Boy..." after examining my bite. I say "That doesn't sound good." and so he gives me a parable and says my teeth are a lot like having to do a 20 mile walk that hadn't been started by 4:30 pm. Meaning: He has his work cut out for him...I wanted to tell him it was no walk in the park for myself either!!! So he prescribes the necessary approach and I hear "rubberbands". That can't be good :?. I also hear I am to get a larger lower wire (as if the one I had wasn't large enough). He leaves and the Tech gets started pulling off old ligs. I get that great naked teeth but awkward my pant leg is tucked in my sock and I didn't know it feeling. She puts the ligs (I chose Rose :)) on my bottom, and whips out some strange looking device and said "This is going to be your new friend but you're gonna hate me for it." Fabulous...She proceeds to taking the device and wrapping it around my brackets, when I recognize IT'S A POWERCHAIN. YES!!! I was quite excited about that :). Well next to the fact I couldn't put any ligs on my brackets which was disappointing.

She finishes that up and tries to cut the stubborn and HUGE wire that won't cut. After try number 3 she succeeded and told me to grab a mirror so she could show me how to put my rubber bands on  Oh Crap...I grab it. Lay back and she hooks it from my upper canines to my first lower molar on each side. And says you'll probably need ibuprofen because these things are gonna give you a headache. Fabulous! I'm all done and scheduling my next appointment when the pain starts. I do have a high tolerance for pain so I'm able to get through it fairly easy, until...I decided to eat something.

First thing first. I can't eat with these things forcing my mouth closed so I go to take them out and pop the crap out of my upper lip on the left side. It left a red mark for a while. Then I tried to eat a granola bar that a fellow student shared with me because I didn't bring any snacks. How about EMBARRASSING. It reminded me of the first time I ate with braces where you can't really bite down because it kind of hurts and feels like your teeth are going to fall out. I had to break the granola bar up into pieces and pop them in my mouth and managed to get it all down. I looked at my pants which then had peanut butter smeared in certain parts in my groin area, I was ready to swear a little. I grabbed a clorox wipe and wiped at my pants which ultimately looked obscene. Thankfully, no one saw.

I began to reattach my new friends and good golly! It felt like the rubber band was making an attempt to yank my right upper canine out so I sat in pain for the rest of the night. Today my teeth still hurt but I don't feel like I have to talk through my banded shut bite anymore :D

Oh well!!! As long as I can still eat (which I will even through torture) I can deal with the pain. Like I said to one of my co-workers "I'M A WARRIOR!"

Until next time!!!

Newbie here - just wanted to say hi and let you know how much I am enjoying your story... not because its funny to see you in pain... but because you are a great writer and I am still laughing at some of your stories (especially Senorita Man Hands lol).

Anyways... Thanks for sharing your story with us :D

Hey Buckey..welcome to Elastics Hell on Wheels! Keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times and fasten your seatback and traytable into their upright and locked positions for takeoff. Prepare for having those little bits of latex snap you repeatedly, come off for no apparent reason, and if you dare try to eat with them in place...get consumed like a bad appetizer. One more step on the road to freedom from tooth bondage!
2/2/09: metal braces T/B
8/20/10: braced removed (18mons, 18days), hawley retainers T/B
9/16/10: LR central incisor extracted (failed root canal)
2/23/11: implant/bone graft
9/15/11: implant crown placed, lower lingual bonding corrected
9/21/11: upper bonding on lateral gaps from upper arch forward advancement
10/17/11: new hawley retainers w/plastic tubing over the 'social six' wire, both T/B

I really like my new camera. It kicked out some great looking pics even though some are blurry which isn't the cameras fault...Blame the hands that hit the shutter button and couldn't stay still at the same time! I'm on a deadline so I gotta go! I'll respond to comments tomorrow!
