Hi everyone. I was playin around with photobucket for the first time and I'm attempting to post some pics of my crazy teeth. I will be braced 3 yrs. This june and I have no idea how much longer I'll be in braces. I have a gummy smile and nice dense bone, which is why my treatment is taking so long my upper teeth are a bit slanted right now (weren't like that pre treatment), still working on one extraction gap from may 2008, and then I naturally had two gaps prior to treatment in my upper arch. So I've got three gaps to close in my stubborn upper arch! Just wondering if anyone out there has a similar case as mine and any ideas about what they can do w/ my gummy smile, especially since I have this crazy mutant bone (which I really tried to capture in the one pic) thx for the feedback. Sorry bout the yellowish color. My ties need changed and I'm due for both my ortho and cleaning appts next mth..
Regular smile
Big smile w/ bony gum look
Upper arch w/ extraction gap upper right side...I have one showing the natural gap in front of this gap but I can see this pic is so large...I can't figure out how to resize them smaller so I won't post the other one yet.
my crazy looking mouth (pics included)

I have a 'gummy' smile as well!! The way I see it though is that I would much rather have a big gummy smile with nice straight teeth than with the ones I had before!! I'm not sure there is anything you can do about it ... so be proud of having such a big, beautiful smile I say!!
I also have dense bones and my treatment is taking much longer than anticipated. I was told yesterday that actually this is a good thing as it shows that I have good bones ... of course the person that told me wasn't wearing braces!!!

one option would be to get a gingevectomy or crown lengthening. that can help a bit. that can help if you have short teeth. It wont get rid of the entire gummy smile of course but it can help reduce it somewhat.

It seems like not too many people here have dense bone. I got 4 teeth extracted in may 2008 and my ortho is still trying to get one of the extraction gaps to close. She started closing loops in January 2010. She also has 2 powerchains on that side of my mouth. is my mouth and real slow progress really unusual? I've never seen anyone else with as much bone in their upper gum as me...I feel like I'm a freak of nature (LOL)...no, but seriously, am I abnormal?
Here's some more pics. My ties really don't look as yellow in person as they do on my phone camera. It's kind of embarrassing. I can't wait til my ortho and dental appts...
Took of my elastic. If you look close, you can see both my gaps. One I naturally have and the extraction gap.
My elastics back on so it blocks the view of my extraction gap.
I think I was bitting more tooth tip to tip. You can see how bony my gum line is.
