The time you're in braces

Do orthodontists overstate the amount of time that you will be in braces?

Mine told me the worst case scenario timewise. Two years. Makes me prepared and then if they come off earlier it is a pleasant suprise.

The time they give you is an educated guess. They could be accurate, or they could be off by plus or minus months.

I was estimated 20 months and I am at 19 months now. But I still expect to be in them for another 6 months for sure.

I was told 18-26 months, but since I'm having SARPE, I'm assuming it'll be on the latter end of that estimate
32 years old, total time in braces=30 months

-Braces and palate expander on 4/15/10
-RPE Surgery 9/15/10
-Expander removed 3/11
-Braces Removed 9/7/12
-Retainers in 9/7/12

Mine told me 2 yrs. She said it might be a little longer if she decided I needed extractions. This past january she told me that she thought initially thought I would of been done but I'm not because I have dense bone and its slowin down tx. Its really an educated guess. It'll depend on how your teeth move.
